Historic Provenance
The design is inspired by a papyrus-motif capital that once crowned a column in front of the temple of Amun at Hibis in Egypt’s Kharga Oasis (380–343 BCE). The original, housed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, merges papyrus and foxtail flatsedge into one of the earliest examples of composite capitals. Through Met x Eichholtz, this historic rhythm and symmetry are reinterpreted into the sculptural foundation of a modern table.
