Offered here is an original production animation drawing featuring Zebigbos, the memorable British chief from the animated feature film Astérix in Britain (Astérix chez les Bretons), released in 1986.

This hand-drawn production artwork was created during the making of the fifth animated feature adaptation of the legendary Astérix comic series, created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The film is based on the classic 1966 comic album Asterix in Britain, one of the most beloved entries in the series.

The drawing depicts Zebigbos, the friendly English chief who famously decides to make the magical brew the new “national beverage” replacing tea in one of the film’s most humorous cultural gags: “Tea for two and two for tea…”

Executed in graphite pencil on original animation paper with studio production markings and peg holes, this piece is a wonderful example of traditional European animation art from the 1980s.
