The Pelikan M1000 Raden Stardust "Hoshikuzu" is a breathtaking fusion of two world-class traditions: Pelikan’s 185 years of German engineering and the centuries-old decorative artistry of Japan. This limited edition masterpiece serves as a poetic tribute to the cosmos, brought to life by the renowned artist Yamazaki Mushu and the esteemed Hoshu-kai collective of Kaga maki-e masters.
The Art of the Cosmos
-
Urushi & Raden Technique: The journey begins with a base of deep black Urushi lacquer, evoking the infinite depth of a midnight sky. Using the ancient Raden technique, three types of finely crushed abalone shell are meticulously applied in vertical stripes using a traditional Funzutsu (powder tube).
-
Celestial Shimmer: As light dances across the surface, the pen reveals an iridescent glow, with flickering hues of violet, blue, green, and silver that mimic distant stars. This delicate inlay is encased in multiple layers of clear lacquer and polished to a mirror-like, lustrous finish.
-
Exquisite Detailing: The cosmic body is paired with 24k gold-plated accents, including the iconic Pelikan beak clip and double cap bands. Each piece is individually signed by the artist and hand-numbered using the prestigious maki-e technique.
Technical Excellence
-
Grand Silhouette: As an M1000—Pelikan’s largest Souverän model—this pen offers a commanding presence and a substantial ink capacity.
-
Legendary 18K Nib: It features an extra-large, 18K gold nib with rhodium decor, celebrated by enthusiasts for its unique softness and expressive "springy" writing characteristics.
-
Presentation: To honor its artisanal roots, the Stardust is presented in a traditional Paulownia wood box, reflecting the reverence behind its creation.
