Klipsch PRO-1000SW In-Wall Subwoofer (Each) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The PRO-1000SW is a passive 10" in-wall subwoofer from Klipsch (Indianapolis, Indiana, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Part of Klipsch's Professional Series custom installation lineup, it is designed to deliver room-filling, distortion-resistant low frequencies entirely concealed within the wall cavity, with no visible cabinetry in the finished room. The sealed MDF enclosure houses a 10" Long-Throw Cerametallic woofer with reverse rolled surround, producing a measured frequency range of 24Hz to 100Hz (+/-3dB) at a maximum output of 109dB at 70Hz. The PRO-1000SW handles 200W RMS and 500W peak at 8 ohms, installs at 3.4" mounting depth into a standard 16" on-centre stud bay for new construction or retrofit applications, and is optimized for pairing with Klipsch's KDA Series DSP amplifiers. A bezel-free, flat magnetic grille completes the installation with a flush, paintable surface that disappears into any wall finish.

Discrete Low Frequencies: Fully Concealed In-Wall Installation

The Klipsch PRO-1000SW installs directly into a standard 16" on-centre stud bay using included wood screws, fitting within the wall cavity before or after drywall installation depending on the construction phase. At only 3.4" mounting depth, the entire cabinet sits flush within the framing, requiring a 20.25" x 14.5" drywall cutout to expose the driver face. The durable sealed MDF enclosure provides accurate bass reproduction while functioning as a sound barrier that reduces low-frequency bleed into adjacent rooms, a meaningful advantage in multi-room residential and commercial installations. This behind-the-drywall approach suits both new construction projects where the cabinet can be framed in during rough-in, and retrofit applications where the installer has access to open the wall cavity from the face side. The flat magnetic grille installs bezel-free flush with the wall surface and is paintable to match any interior finish, making the PRO-1000SW acoustically present but visually invisible.

10" Cerametallic Woofer and KDA Series Amplifier Pairing

Klipsch's proprietary Cerametallic cone combines metallic stiffness with low mass, allowing the 10" long-throw driver with its reverse rolled surround to generate controlled, dynamic low-frequency output across the full 24Hz to 100Hz operating range with minimal cone breakup or distortion at high excursion levels. The reverse rolled surround maximizes linear piston travel, enabling the driver to move the air volume required for impactful bass from within the constrained internal volume of a stud-bay enclosure. Peak output reaches 109dB at 70Hz, suitable for cinema-level low-frequency effects in medium to large room volumes. For maximum acoustic performance and driver protection, Klipsch recommends pairing the PRO-1000SW with a KDA Series DSP amplifier, which includes factory-configured equalization and limiter presets custom-engineered specifically for this driver and enclosure combination. Any external amplifier capable of stable 8-ohm operation at sufficient wattage can also power the PRO-1000SW, with the addition of an external active crossover or subwoofer processor to manage the low-pass filtering.

Key Features

  • 10" Long-Throw Cerametallic Woofer: Klipsch's proprietary Cerametallic cone is rigid and lightweight, enabling high excursion with low distortion. The reverse rolled surround maximizes linear travel for dynamic, impactful bass from 24Hz to 100Hz within a sealed stud-bay enclosure.
  • 24Hz to 100Hz Frequency Range: Deep bass extension to 24Hz at +/-3dB covers the full LFE operating range for cinematic home theater applications as well as the low-frequency foundation of music reproduction in whole-home audio systems.
  • 200W RMS / 500W Peak Power Handling: High continuous and peak power capacity supports reference-level bass playback with a measured maximum output of 109dB at 70Hz, suitable for dedicated home theaters and large open-plan living spaces.
  • 3.4" Mounting Depth: The slim cabinet profile fits within a standard 16" on-centre stud bay at only 3.4" depth, accommodating both new construction framing and retrofit installations where stud bay access is available.
  • Sealed MDF Enclosure: The rigid Medium Density Fibreboard cabinet provides a consistent, controlled acoustic environment independent of surrounding wall cavity conditions, and reduces low-frequency transmission between adjacent rooms.
  • New Construction and Retrofit Compatible: Included wood screws allow direct stud attachment during new construction framing, and the design supports retrofit installations where the wall can be opened from the front face.
  • KDA Series DSP Amplifier Compatible: Klipsch KDA Series amplifiers include factory-configured EQ and limiter presets engineered specifically for the PRO-1000SW, maximizing output while protecting the driver at high power levels.
  • Bezel-Free Flat Magnetic Paintable Grille: The frameless magnetic grille installs flush with the wall surface, accepts standard interior wall paint, and attaches and detaches without tools or hardware for a clean architectural finish in any decor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Klipsch PRO-1000SW?

The Klipsch PRO-1000SW is a passive 10" in-wall subwoofer from Klipsch's Professional Series, rated at 200W RMS and 500W peak at 8 ohms, with a frequency range of 24Hz to 100Hz and a maximum output of 109dB at 70Hz. It installs within a standard 16" on-centre stud bay at only 3.4" depth for new construction or retrofit applications, and uses a sealed MDF enclosure with a flat bezel-free magnetic grille that can be painted to blend with any wall finish.

How does the Klipsch PRO-1000SW compare to the PRO-1200SW and the Sonance Sub 8 Round?

The Klipsch PRO-1000SW and PRO-1200SW share the same core architecture, including a sealed MDF stud-bay enclosure, Cerametallic cone technology, and KDA Series DSP amplifier compatibility, but the PRO-1200SW steps up to a 12" driver with deeper bass extension to 21Hz and higher peak output of 112dB versus the PRO-1000SW's 10" driver at 24Hz and 109dB. The PRO-1000SW is the more appropriate choice for medium room volumes or installations where the stud bay footprint of the larger PRO-1200SW cabinet is a constraint. Compared to the Sonance Sub 8 Round, the Klipsch PRO-1000SW offers a larger 10" driver, a sealed rather than open-back enclosure for better room-to-room isolation, and substantially deeper low-frequency extension, making it a higher-output and more acoustically controlled solution for dedicated home theater use.

Can the Klipsch PRO-1000SW be installed in an existing home?

Yes, the Klipsch PRO-1000SW supports both new construction and retrofit installations. In retrofit applications, the installer opens the wall to access the stud bay, positions and secures the cabinet to the studs using the included wood screws, then cuts the 20.25" x 14.5" drywall opening to expose the driver. The 3.4" mounting depth accommodates standard interior wall framing without modification. The flat magnetic grille covers the opening flush with the wall surface and can be painted to match the existing wall color once installed.

What amplifier does the Klipsch PRO-1000SW require?

The Klipsch PRO-1000SW is a passive subwoofer that requires an external amplifier. Klipsch engineers recommend the KDA Series DSP amplifiers, which include factory-configured EQ curves and limiter settings custom-designed specifically for the PRO-1000SW's driver and sealed enclosure to extract maximum output while protecting the woofer at high drive levels. Any external monoblock amplifier or AV receiver subwoofer output channel capable of stable 8-ohm operation with adequate wattage can also power the PRO-1000SW, provided an appropriate active low-pass crossover is used to restrict the signal to the 24Hz to 100Hz operating range.

What is a Cerametallic woofer and why does it matter for in-wall subwoofer performance?

Cerametallic is Klipsch's proprietary woofer cone material that combines a metallic base structure with a ceramic-finish surface treatment to achieve an unusually high stiffness-to-mass ratio. A stiffer, lighter cone resists the flex and breakup that occurs at high excursion levels in conventional paper or polymer cones, which means the PRO-1000SW's 10" driver can move large amounts of air more accurately and with less distortion at elevated output levels. This is particularly important in a sealed in-wall enclosure where the driver must work harder to achieve deep extension than in a ported or bandpass external cabinet design, making cone rigidity a direct contributor to low-distortion bass at reference volumes.

Where can I buy the Klipsch PRO-1000SW in Toronto or Canada?

The Klipsch PRO-1000SW In-Wall Subwoofer is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Klipsch dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the complete Klipsch Professional Series in-wall lineup, including the PRO-1200SW 12" model, and can advise on amplifier selection, stud bay compatibility, and system integration for new construction and retrofit home theater or whole-home audio projects across the Toronto area.

How many PRO-1000SW units are recommended for a home theater?

A single Klipsch PRO-1000SW delivers sufficient output for most standard dedicated home theater rooms, covering the LFE channel with 109dB maximum output at 70Hz and bass extension to 24Hz. For larger rooms exceeding roughly 2,500 to 3,000 cubic feet, or for installations prioritizing even bass distribution across multiple rows of seating, dual PRO-1000SW units installed symmetrically within the room are a better approach. Running two units in parallel also reduces the drive level required from each cabinet, lowering thermal stress on the drivers and improving long-term reliability at sustained high playback levels.

Can the grille be painted to match my wall and how does it attach?

Yes, the Klipsch PRO-1000SW's flat bezel-free grille is designed to accept standard interior wall paint, allowing it to blend fully into the wall surface and become visually undetectable in the finished room. The grille attaches by magnets rather than clips, pegs, or mechanical fasteners, so it can be removed and reattached without tools for driver inspection or system servicing. With care during removal, a painted grille can be reinstalled without visible damage to the paint finish if the surface was allowed to cure fully before reinstallation.

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat. It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.
