There are seasons when the world feels loud with opinion. When tone is flattened, nuance lost, and it becomes tempting to dim oneself in anticipation of misunderstanding. Many of us know the reflex: soften the language, narrow the vision, adjust the beam so that no one mistakes it for glare.
The lighthouse offers another model.
A lighthouse does not chase ships. It does not negotiate with the sea. It does not abandon its post in order to prove its usefulness. It remains fixed and keeps the light in order. Its labor is interior and exacting. The beam radiates because someone has tended it.
The Lighthouse seal was modeled after the Tourlitis Lighthouse, which rises from a narrow rock in the sea off Andros, improbable and self contained. Water surrounds it on all sides. Stone anchors it beneath. A staircase coils around its base, exposed and precarious.
In designing this seal, I wanted both sea and rock. Guidance and danger. Illumination and consequence. The tower gains meaning from the jagged edge it stands upon. I partially obscured the stairway so that it feels protected, less accessible, as if tending the light requires privacy. The proportions were softened and the windows subtly widened, allowing the structure to read not only as a warning tower, but as a dwelling. A place one could inhabit.
This is a seal for those committed to tending their own flame. For those learning that radiance truly comes from within. For those who understand that the work is not to steer every vessel, but to keep the beam clear and true, to embody the light.
