COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Person-Centred Planning in NDIS Support Coordination course. This program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, principles, and practical tools necessary to implement person-centred planning effectively within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Person-centred planning focuses on placing the individual at the heart of all decision-making processes, emphasising their unique goals, preferences, and aspirations. Understanding the historical evolution of person-centred practices highlights their importance in promoting empowerment and dignity for individuals with disabilities, making this approach foundational in disability support services.

The NDIS framework provides the structure within which person-centred planning operates. This course will offer an overview of the NDIS, its objectives, and the roles and responsibilities of support coordinators. You will also explore the NDIS Practice Standards and quality indicators, ensuring your practices align with the highest standards of service delivery while fostering participant independence and inclusion.

Core concepts of person-centred planning include individualised support, self-determination, and respecting participant choices. This course will guide you in applying these principles to your work, ensuring that every plan reflects the participant’s unique needs, values, and preferences. Emphasising empowerment ensures participants remain active decision-makers in their own lives.

Engaging effectively with participants is a cornerstone of person-centred planning. This section will teach you how to build trust and rapport, utilise effective communication strategies, and approach participants with cultural competence and sensitivity. Strong relationships are essential for fostering collaboration and achieving meaningful outcomes.

Assessment and goal setting are critical stages in person-centred planning. You will learn how to conduct comprehensive needs assessments, collaboratively set SMART goals with participants, and align these goals with NDIS outcomes. This ensures that plans are not only tailored to the individual but also measurable and achievable within the NDIS framework.

Developing person-centred plans involves more than setting goals. This course will break down the key components of a comprehensive plan, highlight the importance of involving participants and their support networks, and demonstrate effective documentation practices to create clear and actionable plans.

Implementing support plans requires coordination, monitoring, and adaptability. You will learn strategies for managing services and supports, tracking progress, and making adjustments as participant needs evolve. Ensuring continuity of care is a priority throughout the implementation process.

Collaboration with service providers is an essential part of support coordination. This section will guide you in identifying and selecting suitable providers, fostering interdisciplinary teamwork, and managing provider relationships to deliver seamless and effective support.

Advocacy is a key responsibility of support coordinators. You will learn to understand and uphold participants’ rights under the NDIS, navigate ethical dilemmas, and employ advocacy strategies to empower participants and ensure their voices are heard in decision-making processes.

Risk management is integral to effective support coordination. This course will teach you to identify and assess potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and plan for crises. Proactive risk management ensures participant safety and reduces disruptions to their care and support.

Accurate documentation and record keeping are vital for compliance and transparency. This section will cover best practices for maintaining clear and thorough records, ensuring confidentiality and privacy, and meeting legal and compliance requirements in support coordination.

Quality assurance and continuous improvement are ongoing processes in person-centred planning. You will learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of support coordination, implement feedback mechanisms, and identify professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and services.

Navigating NDIS processes is another key component of this course. From understanding funding and budgets to preparing for plan reviews and managing administrative responsibilities, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to navigate the complexities of the NDIS system effectively.

Ethical considerations are central to person-centred planning. This course will explore how to uphold ethical standards and boundaries, address conflicts of interest, and maintain transparency and accountability in your role as a support coordinator.

Utilising technology in support coordination can streamline processes and improve outcomes. You will learn about digital tools for planning and coordination, ensuring accessibility for participants, and maintaining data security to protect sensitive information.

Case studies and practical applications will provide real-world context, allowing you to analyse scenarios, apply theoretical knowledge to practice, and engage in reflective learning to improve your approach to person-centred planning.

Finally, you will explore future trends in person-centred planning, including innovations in disability support services, policy changes, and evolving participant needs. Staying ahead of these trends will ensure your practices remain relevant and effective in a changing landscape.

By the end of this course, you will have the skills and knowledge to implement person-centred planning effectively, ensuring participants receive tailored, respectful, and empowering support within the NDIS framework.

Each section is complemented with examples to illustrate the concepts and techniques discussed.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.
