Measuring 1-1/2 inches in thickness overall, the seat is built around a 1/2-inch plywood base and is covered with padding to be comfortable for users. The white naugahyde cover is water-resistant for showering. The frame for the shower seat is crafted from 16-gauge, heavy-duty stainless steel, and the mounting brackets are fabricated out of stainless steel that is 3/16 of an inch thick. Once it is opened, the seat automatically locks in place to ensure the safety of users.
