Plant Description

Prosperous Purple Lotus is a majestic and exceptional lotus with rich, dark-pink flowers that simply POP! This is a tall, multi-petaled lotus that is classified as a 'Red' lotus, but as you can clearly see, this lotus is saturated with intense, deep-pink color! Prosperous Purple Lotus grows to four feet tall or taller and needs a very wide container to reach its full potential. Outer petals are wide and flat while the inner petals are curly and add texture and dimension to this sensational lotus flower! The dark-pink color is intense and vibrant! Golden receptacles and a fringe of white anthers give first day blooms extra dazzle! Prosperous Purple Lotus needs a 20 inch wide container, or wider. Just a note - this one starts slow. It will grow much faster when the weather gets HOT!

Planting Instructions

Plant your lotus in a wide container using loam soil. Add four inches of water above the soil. Place your lotus outdoors where it will receive 8 - 12 hours of sunlight daily. Do not fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.

We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs for optimum growth and best bloom.

What Is Loam Soil?

Loam soil is a good mixture of Topsoil and Sand

If you are lucky enough to have good topsoil in your backyard, by all means, use your topsoil. All you will have to do is add fertilizer. If you are not so lucky--and your backyard is sand or heavy red or yellow clay, you can mix up a batch of loam soil.

You can create your own loam soil by mixing these two ingredients together

  • 2/3  Inorganic Topsoil (Little or no organic material added)
  • 1/3  Pool Filter Sand

Mix together thoroughly with a little water. Your soil should clump when squeezed. If your soil is mixed properly, it will not muddy your pond water.

You can purchase inexpensive bags of inexpensive / poor Topsoil at Lowes or Home-Depot. Good soil clumps together as a ball in your hand with only a little moisture.

Don't buy brands like Scott's or Miracle-Gro, as they will contain too much organic matter that can foul your water. Buy an unbranded bag of topsoil instead.

You can purchase Pool Filter Sand at any store that sells pool supplies.

Loam soil is well suited for all aquatic plants (except oxygenators). Oxygenators rarely need to be planted, just anchored in the substrate or in a container filled with sand or 1/8  inch pea gravel.

Sand holds little water but does allow for aeration and drainage.

Some DO's and DON'TS regarding Aquatic Planting Soil

DO NOT use potting soils ( as they are too light and will float right out of the pot). Potting Soil has organic material that will rot and foul your water!

DO NOT add too much composted material (as it is too rich in organic matter and it will ferment underwater and destroy the ecology of your pond).

DO NOT use 100% calcined clay as there is no nutritional value in calcined clay.

DO NOT add rocks, stones or pebbles to the top of your planting container as this will inhibit the growth of your plants. Plants do not grow in rocks and stones in nature!

DO NOT purchase API Aquatic Planting Media or Microbe-lift Aquatic Planting Media as these products are NOT suitable for waterlilies, lotus or most other pond plants. They are suitable for submerged grasses ONLY!

Bog Plants (Wetland Plants) prefer poor, acidic soil.

The texture of loam soil will retain nutrients and water as well as bind to the nutrients in your fertilizer, where they can deliver these nutrients to your plants. The Pool Filter Sand will allow some drainage and aeration Once you have created loam soil for your pond plants, you are ready to plant waterlilies, lotus and marginal plants in your water garden or pond. Enjoy!

Very good tallow cream, nice scent.
I've really been into testing different tallow creams and balms recently. In my experience, the difference between tallow cream and tallow balm is that the cream is much thinner and in most cases, less greasy. This tallow cream here is just that. It is thinner and less greasy than the balm. The sent on this one is interesting. It definitely smells like frankincense to me even though I don't see that listed with the ingredients. The tallow cream spreads out easily and absorbs into my skin very quickly, giving my skin a moisturized feel. It is not greasy in any way.

Better For Targeting Smaller Areas
Because this is a hard balm beef tallow, I find that it's best to use for targeting smaller areas. Due to being a hard balm, it's just kind of difficult to remove from the jar. Use the back of your fingernail to scrape against the balm and that will help you to lift out a small clump that you can then massage along the skin. Or use a cosmetic scoop or spatula to do so. Does not come with one. Once you get this into your skin, it does do a lot to treat and condition the skin. Moisturizes and relieves dryness on a deep level. Especially good for those who suffer from various dry skin conditions. It does have a very light scent that I like, but because of that, I don't like using this on my face. Besides, I tend to not like balms on my face anyway. You may like it there though because it is quite helpful. I love using this on my dry hands, especially after washing them. Also quite good to use along the fingernails to strengthen them. Will not leave the hands feeling messy with a lot of damp residuals. Made in the U.S.A.

Very light, absorbs easily
When I first opened this container, I was pretty confused. The moisturizer has the consistency of a watery soup or yogurt, but it's also kind of elastic, it made me think of a melted marshmallow. So far I like it a lot though, it absorbs into my face very easily and leaves it feeling extra soft and hydrated, without leaving any residue. It feels pretty lightweight on my skin too. It's a bit weird to apply because of the texture of the cream, I've just been dipping a finger in so it gets coated, then wiping it off my finger and rubbing it on my face.
