The amino acids which may help to form collagen in the body like glycine, proline, and lysine are found in highly nourishing amounts in hydrolyzed collagen and this can benefit a canine's tendon health. One specific study showed that a diet rich in glycine improved both biochemical and biomechanical properties following inflammation of the Achilles tendon. Provide 1/2 tsp per 10 lbs daily. Mix with a small amount of warm water prior to mixing with food or while in food dish. For more advanced use when there is more of a need for nutritional support such as with ligament or tendon injury, muscle wasting, intestinal ulcerations, etc.., use 1 tsp per 10 lbs daily. Providing 20 minutes before main meal in a small amount of favorite food is optimal when convenient for better assimilation. Use a non-protein source like pure pumpkin, apple sauce etc... if possible.
