Advanced Orthomolecular Research (AOR) MaxMethyl
MaxMethyl provides nutrients that may help in tissue formation, the formation of red blood cells, the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and which are factors in the maintenance of good health.*
Homocysteine is a byproduct of an important metabolic process called the methylation cycle. It is a derivative of the essential amino acid methionine, and can be recycled into various useful products by the addition of methyl groups.* Unfortunately, homocysteine is toxic at high levels. When it accumulates, it can damage blood vessels and impede collagen formation, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.*
In order to recycle homocysteine into useful products and prevent it from accumulating, other participants in the methylation cycle are required. The main cofactors are Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and folate. The process also requires methyl donors, such as trimethylglycine which is said to be an effective homocysteine lowering substance.
MaxMethyl is formulated to include all the cofactors and methyl donors may need to convert homocysteine into useful amino acids, thereby attempts to reduce the risk of heart disease.*
