COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the course, Recognise & Respond to Crisis Situations. This program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and ethical considerations necessary to effectively identify, intervene, and support individuals in crisis. In this course, participants will explore various aspects of crisis intervention, including legal and ethical considerations, organisational policies and procedures, types of crisis situations, and principles of crisis intervention.

In Section A, participants will delve into the legal and ethical considerations relevant to recognising and responding to crisis situations. Understanding the legal and ethical frameworks ensures that interventions are conducted with integrity and in accordance with professional standards. Participants will also familiarise themselves with organisational policies and procedures for responding to crisis situations, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices. Exploring the types of crisis situations enables participants to recognise and differentiate between different crises, allowing for tailored responses.

Additionally, participants will learn to identify common indicators or signs of crisis in others and examine personal values, beliefs, and attitudes that may facilitate or impede crisis care. Principles and practices of crisis intervention, referral options, and procedures for accessing Australian services will also be covered, along with principles and practices of self-care and supervision to ensure the well-being of both individuals in crisis and those providing support.

In Section B, participants will develop practical skills for recognising and responding to signs indicating safety issues for individuals in crisis. This includes considering indicators from direct and indirect communications, asking directly about safety issues, and taking immediate action based on organisational procedures. Participants will learn to listen empathetically to details of current crisis situations, affirm and strengthen links to safety and living, and provide structure and strategies for dealing with immediate crises.

Additionally, they will learn to balance collaboration and direction according to the person's current capacity for decision-making and coping, identify and agree on actions to reduce immediate danger and risk to others, and empower individuals to make informed choices about further help. Practical skills such as exploring possible barriers to seeking help, developing plans with individuals, referring to appropriate professionals, completing accurate documentation, and recognising and minimising risks to self associated with crisis support will also be covered.

In addition, participants will learn how to be involved in crisis intervention activities on several occasions, further refining their skills and confidence in responding effectively to crisis situations.

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical awareness necessary to recognise, intervene, and support individuals in crisis, ensuring their safety and well-being in challenging situations.

This course is designed to align with the content outlined in the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency CHCCCS019.

Nice so far.

Comfy. They were tight the first day across the toes but as I've worn them a couple times they are loosening up. The sole is forming to my foot. These are very much like Doc Martin's from the early 2000s. Not sure about quality since I haven't had them for very long.

They are cute but they have a bit of an odd fit that isn’t great for people with narrow feet. They look too dressy to wear with super casual outfits in my opinion. I think the Ugg golden star sandals are much comfier. If you’re wearing these sandals for a really short time they’d be okay. After wearing them around my house for a little while I decided to return them since they started to hurt my feet.
