"Silken-textured Pinot Noir with blackcurrant, black cherry, dark-fleshed plum and spicy flavours. A ripe, succulent wine that’s deliciously drinkable now and offers good value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Oct 2020
"Sweetly fruited and instantly appealing, the wine shows dark cherry, thyme, warm spice and cedar characters. It's equally satisfying on the palate, delivering terrific fruit purity and intensity, combined withy velvety texture and refined tannins, finishing long and delicious. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2020
Central Otago, with its distinctive mountainous terrain, provides stunning expressions of Pinot Noir. This wine is no exception; beautifully perfumed, richly coloured with aromas of dark cherry and lush plum.
Pinot Noir grown on the dry, schist derived soils of Bendigo make up the components of this single vineyard Thornbury Pinot Noir. Dry, hot summers and cool nights produce low yielding vines, ideal for the development of intense flavour and tannin.
The vineyard was hand-harvested with gentle destemming and a cold soak to maximise colour and tannin stability. A mixture of yeasts was used during fermentation to add the desired flavour profile. A small percentage of the grapes were fermented with whole clusters to add aromatic complexity. After pressing, the wine was rested in 20% new French barriques, then aged in barrel before being blended, lightly fined and filtered to bottle.
Food Pairing: Wild game such as duck or venison.
