Installation Guide

Follow these general steps to replace the water pump assembly. Professional installation is recommended.

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the battery terminals and remove the spark plug leads before beginning work.
  2. Remove Lower Unit: Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase assembly from the outboard's driveshaft housing. You may need to disconnect a speedometer tube or shift linkage.
  3. Access the Pump: Place the lower unit on a workbench and remove the bolts securing the water pump housing.
  4. Disassemble Old Pump: Slide the old pump housing, impeller, and wear plate off the driveshaft. Note the orientation of the impeller vanes.
  5. Clean Surfaces: Thoroughly clean the driveshaft and all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or sealant.
  6. Install New Components: Place the new gasket and impeller plate onto the gearcase. Install the new woodruff key into the driveshaft slot.
  7. Install Impeller: Align the new impeller with the key and slide it down. Rotate the driveshaft clockwise while pushing down to help seat the vanes correctly inside the housing.
  8. Reassemble Pump: Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the new housing, install it over the impeller, and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  9. Reinstall Lower Unit: Guide the lower unit back into position, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align correctly. Securely fasten all bolts.
  10. Test Operation: Reconnect the battery. With the outboard in water, start the engine and confirm a steady stream of water is exiting the "tell-tale" port.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this kit fits my engine?

The most reliable method is to match your engine's model and year to the "Compatible Engine Models" table. You should also verify that your existing part number is listed in our "Part Number Cross-Reference" table. For final confirmation, you can use the Suzuki parts catalog link provided above to see exploded diagrams of your specific model.

What are the signs of a failing water pump?

Common symptoms include an engine overheating alarm, a weak or non-existent water stream from the "tell-tale" outlet, and visible steam coming from the exhaust. Reduced engine performance at high RPMs can also indicate poor cooling.

How often should the water pump impeller be replaced?

For preventative maintenance, it is recommended to replace the impeller and gaskets every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation. If you frequently operate in sandy, silty, or saltwater, more frequent inspections and replacements are advised.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?

We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.

What is your warranty and return policy?

This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Great for blankets
Great for making sherpa or fur blankets soft again after wash. I imagine it'll work well for fur hoods as well. It did a good job of removing lose hair fibers and the quality is good, even if it's extra spikey. Overall, affordable solution and good looking brush to rejuvenate faux fur

Great but Pain
It’s alright, does the job as it is supposed to. It’s easy to use and helped fix my Uniqlo jacket that was all matted. It didn't restore it to it's original form however it did unmat it. If I bought this way before and touched up the jacket, I think it would of been perfect to this day still. Maintenance of those jackets are a must! The brush is strong and works well for fluffing it up because of the metal wiring. The only bad parts are that it can hurt if you accidentally poke or scratch yourself, I actually got cut by it when I quickly was brushing. It’s kind of hard to get the lint off the brush but it's better than others and might hurt because of the metal. But overall, it’s a cool tool that makes my jacket fluff again!

Works well, however…
Purchased this to give life back to my Sherpa backed blankets. This is a well made brush handle is comfortable. The teeth are strong and durable. They did not bend around while I used it and maintained its shape. The problem I guess I’m seeing is that it doesn’t get deep down into the fabric to it’s just a surface “petting”. Maybe if the teeth were further apart or something. But does seem to provide some form of fluff.

Very useful
Works great on polar fleece. I also use it gently on. My jeans to get rid of dig hair. Speaking of dog hair, I have been known to run this gently over the dog's coat.works great for that too.

Works great, faux fur blanket is like new again!
Just used this on a faux fur pet blanket that I have had for 2 years and never brushed. It worked amazingly! Since it was so matted it took a bit to do the whole blanket (50” x 40”) but short strokes got it looking like new very easily. Some fibers came out in the brushing along with pet hairs, but the rug shedding was minimal.
