What happens when we accept that everything we feel and think stems not from an immaterial spirit but from electrical and chemical activity in our brains? In this thought-provoking narrative--drawn from professional expertise as well as personal life experiences--trailblazing neurophilosopher Patricia S. Churchland grounds the philosophy of mind in the essential ingredients of biology. She reflects with humor on how she came to harmonize science and philosophy, the mind and the brain, abstract ideals and daily life.

Offering lucid explanations of the neural workings that underlie identity, she reveals how the latest research into consciousness, memory, and free will can help us reexamine enduring philosophical, ethical, and spiritual questions: What shapes our personalities? How do we account for near-death experiences? How do we make decisions? And why do we feel empathy for others? Recent scientific discoveries also provide insights into a fascinating range of real-world dilemmas--for example, whether an adolescent can be held responsible for his actions and whether a patient in a coma can be considered a self.

Churchland appreciates that the brain-based understanding of the mind can unnerve even our greatest thinkers. At a conference she attended, a prominent philosopher cried out, "I hate the brain; I hate the brain!" But as Churchland shows, he need not feel this way. Accepting that our brains are the basis of who we are liberates us from the shackles of superstition. It allows us to take ourselves seriously as a product of evolved mechanisms, past experiences, and social influences. And it gives us hope that we can fix some grievous conditions, and when we cannot, we can at least understand them with compassion.

Perfect Little Heat Press for Patches! 👏
Color: Raspberry
I bought this to apply patches to jerseys and shirts, and it works great! It heats up quickly, applies even pressure, and makes the job so much easier than using a regular iron. It’s compact, easy to handle, and perfect for small projects or detailed work. Definitely a handy little tool to have on hand — neat, efficient, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do! ✅ Why I love it: • Heats up fast and evenly • Compact and easy to use • Perfect for applying patches or small designs • Great alternative to a bulky iron A small but mighty tool — highly recommend! 🔥👕

Great for small to medium heat transfer projects.
Color: Lavender Purple, Color: Lavender Purple
This is perfect for small heat transfer projects. I used a few ready to press designs and it worked pretty well. It is small, portable, lightweight, and has a few heat settings on it. If you are looking to use it for sublimination, it is not the right fit. Tried sublimination and while there was enough heat to transfer some of the image, because of the size, it is really hard to get even, exact pressure over the entire project area which results in uneven, spotty results. All in all, great for small to medium heat transfer projects, and perfect for someone just getting in to heat transfer.

HTVRONT is the competition
Color: Mint
I've never purchased an HTVRONT product that I didn't like. I really like this mini heatpress. It's perfect for pressing small pieces for quilting, or a piece of vynil when a larger press is too much. I like the color and design but more importantly, it heats as it should with no glitches. I have another mini press from a different leading brand and comparitively, this one is the better of the two. I caught it on sale but at regular price I would have still bought it.

Just As Good As Cricut- Half the Cost
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
I had a Cricut mini press, but my mother loved it for her quilting so much that I had given it to her. I learned after that it was a mistake as I used it more than I had realized. When looking back at the price, I could not justify almost $40, so I waited. I have been a user of HTVRONT's other products for years, so I finally gave it a chance. The package came with the mini press neatly resting in a fine quality box, where it is easy to store. It feels sturdy and well made without any weird smells. It has a nice weight to it, but not too heavy. It evenly distributed heat making it easy to apply the HTV onto my project. I was able to easily use it on felt and cotton. I actually prefer it has a dial for temperatures rather than buttons like the cricut. 10/10 would recommend.
