Hydromol Description
Hydromol is a moisturiser that helps to keep your skin hydrated and brings back its natural moisture balance.
Hydromol comes as a cream, ointment, and intensive cream, depending on your needs.
You can add Hydromol ointment to your bath or use it instead of soap.

What is Hydromol?

Hydromol comes in the form of a cream, ointment, and intensive cream. The Hydromol ointment is a versatile emollient that can be applied directly to the skin, used in the bath, or as a substitute for soap. Both Hydromol cream and Hydromol Intensive are specially formulated to help restore your skin's natural moisture by replenishing key elements of the skin's natural moisturising factor (NMF).

NMF is a blend of compounds naturally present in the skin that helps keep it hydrated and balanced. It contains things like amino acids, urea, and different salts such as sodium pyrrolidone carboxylate (Sodium PCA). These are vital for protecting and moisturising the skin's outer layer. NMF is key to having healthy, well-hydrated skin.

When your skin gets dry, the amount of these NMF components drops, which can lead to cracks and irritation. However, the ingredients in Hydromol help to lock in moisture, leaving your skin feeling smoother and softer.

What is Hydromol used for?

Hydromol is helpful for treating various forms of dermatitis, commonly known as eczema. This term covers a range of skin conditions that cause inflammation. If you have dermatitis, your skin may become dry, itchy, and might even crack or develop sore patches. Types of dermatitis include atopic dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and photodermatitis.

Photodermatitis, often called "sun allergy," can lead to rashes similar to eczema when your skin is exposed to sunlight or certain substances that become irritating when mixed with light.

How does Hydromol work for photodermatitis?

Hydromol isn't specifically meant for treating photodermatitis, but it can be beneficial for your skin. It's an emollient, which is a type of moisturiser. It helps to soothe and hydrate dry, itchy, or scaly skin.

Hydromol cream includes Sodium PCA, a natural part of your skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It helps to bring back your skin's natural ability to stay hydrated. This keeps moisture in, making your skin feel smoother, softer, and easing any itching.

Hydromol ointment contains ingredients such as liquid paraffin that help keep your skin hydrated. It acts as an emollient by forming a protective barrier that locks in moisture. Plus, it's free from preservatives, so it's ideal for very dry and sensitive skin.

Hydromol Intensive includes 10% urea, a natural component of the skin's moisturising factors. Urea acts as a humectant, helping to draw moisture into your skin and hydrate it from the inside.

Are there different forms of Hydromol?

Hydromol is available in various forms: cream, ointment, and Intensive cream. Each one has a special formulation to keep your skin protected and moisturised.

The ingredients found in the three different types of Hydromol are:

1
Cream: This contains liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, myristyl myristate, cetomacrogol emulsifying wax, sodium pyrrolidone carboxylate, phenoxyethanol, ceteareth-20, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, n-butylparaben, iso-butylparaben, sodium lactate solution, and purified water.
2
Ointment: cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol cetostearyl ether, liquid paraffin, and yellow soft paraffin.
3
Hydromol Intensive contains ingredients like urea, maize starch, white soft paraffin, isopropyl myristate, glyceryl tribehenate, sorbitan laurate, palmitic acid, and polyoxyethylene fatty glyceride.

How does Hydromol compare with other treatments for photodermatitis?

To treat skin conditions such as photodermatitis, you'll typically use creams, ointments, or lotions. If you're looking for personalised advice, a clinician can assist you in selecting the most suitable treatment.

Topical steroids like hydrocortisone, betamethasone, and clobetasol are often used to treat different types of dermatitis, including photodermatitis. These steroids are available in various strengths, from mild to very potent, and come in different formulations.

Emollients or moisturisers such as Hydromol are often recommended if you have dry skin and can be used together with steroids. Depending on your particular condition, your clinician might suggest moisturisers of varying strengths. These can range from lighter options like Doublebase Gel to richer, greasier ones like Fifty:50 ointment for very dry skin or sudden flare-ups.

Another option for emollient treatment is Epaderm, which comes in both cream and ointment forms. The cream is ideal for mild to moderately dry skin, much like Hydromol cream, whereas the ointment is better suited for very dry skin, similar to Hydromol ointment.

Does Hydromol have any side effects?

Hydromol is generally safe with minimal side effects, but some individuals might be sensitive to its ingredients. If you notice any skin reactions like burning, itching, rash, or redness after using Hydromol, it's advisable to stop using it and consult your clinician for guidance.

Does Hydromol contain steroids?

No, Hydromol products do not contain any steroids. They help by moisturising your skin with their special ingredients. If you're also using a steroid cream with Hydromol, it's best to wait about 20-30 minutes between applications to ensure both treatments work effectively.

Can Hydromol be used on the face?

Yes, you can apply it to your face. However, it's wise to try it on a small patch of skin first before using it more widely. Also, be careful to avoid getting it in your eyes. If it does get in your eyes, rinse them with running water for a few minutes.

Can you get Hydromol over the counter?

Yes, you can buy all three Hydromol products—cream, ointment, and Intensive—without needing a prescription. However, it's a good idea to consult your clinician before using any skin product to ensure it's safe and appropriate for you.

Thick Silicone Moisturizing Socks
Color: Nude, Size: Women 9-13, Color: Nude, Size: Women 9-13
★★★★☆ Thick Silicone Moisturizing Socks I ordered these silicone moisturizing socks to try for dry heels. Unlike typical fabric spa socks, these are made entirely of soft silicone and are noticeably thicker and very stretchy. When I first took them out of the package there was a visible fold line in the silicone. It appears to be from how they were folded in the packaging rather than a defect in the material. The silicone itself feels durable and flexible. The design works like a full silicone sleeve that traps moisturizer against your skin. I applied Aquaphor first and then slid these on so the moisture stays in contact with the skin longer. One thing I noticed right away is that the silicone feels cool when you first put them on, which is actually pretty comfortable. The bottoms have a zig-zag textured pattern that gives some grip if you need to stand briefly, though these seem better for relaxing while moisturizer absorbs rather than walking around much. The ankle opening is the tightest part of the sock. It stretches, but it’s noticeably snug compared to the rest of the silicone, which helps keep them from sliding off. For sizing reference, I wear a women’s 7.5–8 shoe and the size Large fits comfortably. There’s plenty of stretch and I can wiggle my toes easily, so they should accommodate larger feet as well. They’re also easy to clean. After using them you can simply wash them with soap and water and let them dry completely before storing or using them again. Overall these appear well made with thick silicone and plenty of stretch. If you use moisturizing socks or heel treatments, these work well for keeping lotion in place while your feet absorb it. Since this set comes with two pairs for about $10, the price seems pretty reasonable for something reusable like this.

Perfect Training Treat for Dogs with Allergies! 🐾✨
Flavor Name: Rabbit, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The Pupford Freeze Dried Training Treats have been an absolute game-changer for my dog with allergies. Finding a safe, delicious treat that doesn’t upset his system has always been a challenge, but these are perfect! Made with just two simple ingredients, these treats are not only allergy-friendly but also super convenient. The small size is ideal for training sessions, and my dog absolutely loves them! Unlike some other treats, they don’t have an overwhelming smell, which is a huge plus for me. If your dog has dietary sensitivities or you’re just looking for a healthy, easy-to-use training treat, I can’t recommend these enough. They’ve made training sessions so much easier and more enjoyable for both of us! 🐶💖🐇

Low calorie and great for dog training
Flavor Name: Rabbit, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 3), Flavor Name: Rabbit, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 3)
A trainer recommended these for training and our dog loves the taste. They are small and easily handled. There are some larger/longer pieces that can easily be broken in half. With these I am not worried about her spoiling her dinner or gaining extra weight. They don't have much of a smell and being dry, my hands stay relatively clean. She has no problem chewing them as the texture is firm but soft being freeze dried. It can be easy to go through them quickly which made buying the three pack an easy decision.
