Fluorites are among the world’s most colorful mineral due to its huge display of brilliant colors. Amongst the many localities, one of the most famous deposits is from the Yaogangxian Mine.
The Yaogangxian Pluton, composed mostly of granite, is a complex structural belt, which intruded Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks during the Late Jurassic, forming at 157 to 170 million years ago. When you are holding a Yaogangxian specimen in your hand, you are actually holding a piece of history that is as old as the dinosaurs, and many even older.
Production has really diminished in the last few years and collector quality pieces yield less than 5 per year. Minerals coming out from this mine remain low as compared to the past. The haul from every mining expedition varies from one to another, thus it is difficult to find fluorite of similar characteristics.
Being the oldest Tungsten mine in China with mining activities beginning since 1904, more than 308 minerals have been discovered, including many new minerals discovered for the first time in the world.
Metaphysically, Fluorite promotes focus, intuition and understanding. It helps to bring chaos into order, promoting stability, free thinking and clear unbiased reasoning. Fluorite also helps to draw away negative energy and stress, and is an excellent learning aid.
