Kanto SP26 26" Bookshelf Speaker Swiveling Floor Stands at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The SP26 is a pair of 26-inch swiveling floor speaker stands from Kanto (Vancouver, Canada), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Designed specifically as the ideal companion for the Kanto YU4 and Kanto YU6 powered bookshelf speakers, the SP26 features a rotating top plate that allows precise speaker toe-in adjustment without moving the stand base, a 1/4"-20 mounting screw to secure compatible speakers directly to the stand, and a solid steel structure with foam-padded top surface to reduce resonance and isolate speakers from vibrations in the surrounding area. A hollow column provides integrated cable management for both power cables and speaker wire, and the stands ship with both spiked feet for carpet and domed rubber feet for hardwood and hard floor surfaces.

Rotating Top Plate and Speaker Toe-In

The defining feature of the SP26 is its rotating top plate, which allows the speaker to be angled toward the primary listening position independently of the stand base position. Correct toe-in is one of the most effective adjustments available for improving stereo imaging and high-frequency focus from a bookshelf speaker, and the SP26 makes this adjustment straightforward without requiring the entire stand to be repositioned. This is particularly valuable in rooms where the listening position is off-center or where the stands cannot be placed symmetrically. The rotation range allows a meaningful degree of angular adjustment, covering the vast majority of real-world room placement scenarios.

Solid Steel Construction and Vibration Isolation

The SP26 is built from solid steel throughout, providing the structural mass and rigidity needed to minimize sympathetic resonance between the stand and the speaker during playback. The top surface of each stand is fully covered in foam padding, which acts as a compliant decoupling layer between the speaker cabinet base and the steel top plate, reducing the micro-vibrations that would otherwise be transmitted bidirectionally between the two. For speakers secured using the included 1/4"-20 mounting screw, this foam layer also protects cabinet finishes from contact wear. The hollow steel column routes power cables and speaker wire cleanly from base to top, keeping the full length of cable concealed inside the stand structure and the listening area free of trailing wires.

Key Features

  • Rotating Top Plate: The swiveling top plate adjusts speaker toe-in angle toward the listening position independently of the stand base, optimizing stereo imaging without repositioning the entire stand.
  • 1/4"-20 Mounting Hole and Screw: A dedicated mounting hole with included 1/4"-20 screw secures the Kanto YU4, YU6, or any other compatible speaker directly to the top plate, preventing accidental displacement.
  • Solid Steel Structure: Full steel construction provides the mass and rigidity needed to minimize resonance and keep the speaker platform stable during extended listening sessions.
  • Foam-Padded Top Surface: Foam insulation covers the entire top plate surface, decoupling the speaker cabinet from the steel stand and reducing vibration transfer for improved sound quality.
  • Integrated Cable Management: The hollow steel column conceals both power cables and speaker wire from base to top, eliminating trailing cables and keeping the setup visually clean.
  • Interchangeable Spiked and Domed Feet: Spiked feet anchor the stand on carpet surfaces, while domed rubber feet protect hardwood, laminate, and tile floors from marks and scratches. Both sets are included.
  • 26-Inch Height: Positions most bookshelf speaker tweeters at seated ear level for standard sofa and chair listening positions, maximizing stereo imaging accuracy and direct sound delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Kanto SP26 speaker stands?

The Kanto SP26 are a pair of 26-inch swiveling floor speaker stands built from solid steel, featuring a rotating top plate, a 1/4"-20 mounting screw, full foam top surface padding, and integrated cable management through the hollow column. Made by Kanto, a Canadian audio accessories brand based in Vancouver, the SP26 is designed as the dedicated floor stand companion for the Kanto YU4 and YU6 powered bookshelf speakers, and is compatible with any speaker accepting a standard 1/4"-20 mounting thread.

How does the Kanto SP26 compare to the Kanto ST28 or the Kanto SX26?

The Kanto SP26 is purpose-built around the rotating top plate and 1/4"-20 mounting system, making it the preferred stand when speaker toe-in adjustment and secure speaker attachment are the primary requirements. The Kanto ST28 and SX26 use fixed top plates without a mounting screw, and while the SX26 adds a superior isolation and mass-loading system, neither offers the swivel adjustment that makes the SP26 uniquely suited to rooms with off-center listening positions or asymmetric speaker placement. For Kanto YU4 or YU6 owners in particular, the SP26 is the purpose-matched stand designed to work with those speakers' mounting interface and cable routing requirements.

Can the Kanto SP26 be used with speakers other than the Kanto YU4 and YU6?

Yes, the Kanto SP26 is compatible with any bookshelf speaker that accepts a standard 1/4"-20 mounting thread on its base. The foam-padded top plate also allows speakers without a mounting hole to rest securely on the stand surface, making the SP26 a viable option for a broader range of compact bookshelf speakers beyond the Kanto YU series. Verifying that the speaker's base footprint fits within the top plate dimensions before purchasing is recommended for non-Kanto models.

What is the rotating top plate and why does it matter for sound quality?

The rotating top plate is a swiveling platform on top of the SP26 stand column that allows the speaker to be angled horizontally toward the listening position without moving the stand base. Correct toe-in angle focuses the speaker's primary dispersion axis toward the listener's ears, which sharpens stereo imaging, improves high-frequency presence, and reduces the level of early sidewall reflections reaching the listening position. The SP26 rotation mechanism makes this adjustment quick and repeatable, which is especially valuable in rooms where ideal stand placement does not align naturally with the listening position.

Does the Kanto SP26 work on hardwood floors without causing damage?

Yes, the Kanto SP26 is fully safe for hardwood, laminate, and tile floors when used with the included domed rubber feet. The rubber feet provide a non-marking, protective contact surface that prevents scratches during normal use and when repositioning the stands. For carpeted rooms, the included spiked feet can be fitted instead to anchor the base firmly into soft floor surfaces and prevent the stands from shifting during playback. Switching between foot types requires only a few minutes and no tools.

How does the cable management work on the Kanto SP26?

The Kanto SP26 column is hollow throughout its full 26-inch height, allowing both a power cable and a speaker wire to be routed internally from the base entry point up through the column and out near the top plate. This keeps all cabling concealed inside the stand structure, eliminating visible wires along the floor and between the stand and the speaker. For Kanto YU4 and YU6 users who require both a power connection and a speaker-level input, the SP26 column is sized to accommodate both cable types simultaneously without crowding.

Where can I buy the Kanto SP26 speaker stands in Toronto or Canada?

The Kanto SP26 swiveling floor speaker stands are available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound is an authorized Kanto dealer serving customers throughout the Greater Toronto Area and shipping across Canada. Purchasing from an authorized Canadian dealer ensures full manufacturer warranty coverage and access to knowledgeable local support for Kanto speaker and stand pairing recommendations.

Great privacy room divider
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel, Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
I got this room divider for our game room that shares the garage/laundry room, to separate the spaces. I was happy that it was relatively easy to put together in less than an hour with nothing more than a screwdriver (provided) although I used a small handheld drill. The instructions were pretty straightforward and easy to understand as everything was labeled. I have 2 small grandkids at home running around while I put this together so my timeline to completion might be longer than others. It recommends 2 people to assemble, but I was able to complete alone in about 40 minutes total and as I said I used a small handheld drill, (although it does come with a small Philips screwdriver) which is the only tool you need for assembly. The first two panels took me about 20 minutes but the other 4 were simple repeats after the initial 2. After all 6 panels were assembled the plastic clips to piece them together were literally a "SNAP" to put on. The poles are made of metal and the panels are made of a very sturdy almost canvas like fabric. When held up to the light not a lot shined through so very good for privacy. You can snap them together in sections and have 2 separate panels of 3 or what ever configuration you want. They are easy to move and bend around furniture or other obstacles, also fold flat together if you need to put them aside for storage. This worked out just as we had planned, very easy to move around when needed and I am very happy with this product. I loved how simple it was to put together, easy instructions, and the durability and functionality of it.

Decent for the price. Instructions suck but most people should be able to figure it out. More below.
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel, Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
SUMMARY: 3 stars from me because it's firmly average. It's fine for the price. Assembly and materials are alright but I can see some caveats depending on your circumstances. Assembly instructions do a subpar job of pointing out some details. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: Maybe it's because I'm autistic and/or building model kits and assembling stuff is my jam, but I honestly thought people were exaggerating when they were complaining about the instructions and I'd be able to flex my ~superior assembly skills.~ I was wrong! These instructions genuinely suck, and whoever is responsible for making them should be ashamed. The instructions do a poor job of calling out some details regarding orientation of parts, and some of the images do not actually match the physical parts. For example, it does not really outline the assembly of the end panels clearly, and I can see someone accidentally using the wrong poles. I've drawn over a photo to show what you should do to try and make it clearer. Additionally, the manual shows a flathead screw for bolting the feet into position, but the actual screw is not a flathead. It also does not point out the counterbore, so if you aren't paying attention you may put the foot pads onto the wrong side of the foot. It's also missing the fact that you need to use another one of the plastic pieces when you finish assembling a panel. ACTUAL ASSEMBLY & MATERIALS: To their credit, all of my bags were clearly labeled. The assembly process wasn't difficult. It's mostly just tedious and requires a fair amount of space. I was able to assemble it by myself without any real difficulty. However, the way it's assembled means two things. One, the fabric parts aren't removable without disassembly. So if you want to use this in an environment where they would require cleaning, I would seriously recommend looking for another option. Or, you could buy this just to use the frame pieces and then somehow buy or make your own fabric pieces designed to be removable with velcro or something. Two, because of the materials I really don't have a lot of faith in this thing surviving disassembly and reassembly. Like a lot of sorta-cheap-but-convenient furniture, it uses those spring-button connections and plastic inserts with self-tapping screws. Those things are not really meant to be disassembled and rethreaded. It also relies a lot on the tension of the poles and the fabric to keep everything rigid and squared, which I think puts a lot of pressure on the aforementioned buttons, plastic inserts, and the hollow metal rods. So I feel like that will also cause issues with disassembly and reassembly. Basically once this thing is assembled, it's not really meant to be disassembled. The best you can do is spot-clean the fabric if you need to. Speaking of the fabric, I didn't see any labels on them or anything in the manual that says what they are, but they feel like some kind of polyester. They generate static electricity pretty easily, and pet hair and debris sticks easily. So that's another downside of them not being easily removable. For the most part it does seem pretty stable. The poles seem to be pretty uniform in length so they're all making contact with my floor. Obviously this isn't structural so it shouldn't be supporting anything, but the two main feet seem to be doing fine with keeping this thing upright. CLOSING THOUGHTS: Really, it's fine for what it is, but it could be better in a lot of little ways and the substandard quality of the instructions just seems unprofessional to me, which is why I'm being so harsh with my rating. Depending on your needs and environment you may want to consider a different option. Preferably one that is made to be disassembled with better materials, and/or one with fabric pieces made to be removed easily.

Not as it seems
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
these are awful... Each individual panel is fine, but when you put it together it can barely stand up, and the clips that hold it together keep popping off. Steer clear of this item.
