Ethiopian Modern Instrumentals Hits (Japan Import) (Vinyl)

Ethiopian Modern Instrumentals Hits is a landmark compilation of Ethiopian instrumental music, originally released in 1972 during the country’s “Golden Age” of modern music. Widely regarded as a companion to the rise of Ethio-jazz, the album features essential recordings from pioneering artists including Mulatu Astatke, along with key contributions from Tesfa-Maryam Kidane and Bahta Gebre-Heywet.

This collection captures a pivotal moment in Ethiopian music history, where traditional scales and rhythms merged with jazz, funk, and soul influences. Much of the material is drawn from rare recordings originally issued on Amha Records and later rediscovered through the influential Éthiopiques series, making these tracks foundational listening for fans of global groove and Afro-jazz.

Long considered an extremely rare and hard-to-find release, Ethiopian Modern Instrumentals Hits has gained cult status among collectors. Modern Japan import vinyl reissues (notably via P-Vine and Groove-Diggers) have finally made this material widely accessible, preserving its warm analog character while reintroducing these recordings to a global audience.

With its hypnotic grooves, modal melodies, and rich instrumentation, this album stands as a cornerstone of Ethio-jazz and one of the most important African instrumental releases of the 20th century.

Features:

  • Japan import vinyl reissue (P-Vine / Groove-Diggers series)
  • Originally released in Ethiopia in 1972
  • Features Mulatu Astatke and key Ethio-jazz artists
  • A foundational Afro-jazz and rare groove compilation
  • Long sought-after and historically significant release

Comfortable, Light Weight, Good Looking
Delivered quickly, exactly as pictured. The shirt fits well. I like the sweater bottom as opposed to a normal t-shirt bottom. The shirt looks dressier. A good value. I'd buy again.

Good value for the money.
Size: 9.5 Wide, Color: Beige
Comfortable right out of the box. Great style and well made. The more you wear the softer they get but maintain their overall appearance.

Comfortable fit for slip-in fabric shoes
Size: 14, Color: Black/Black
My first experience with Marc Joseph. I typically purchase dress and casual work shoes from Florsheim and occasionally Rockport. I'm giving these four stars because the initial fit and feel appear solid. Depending on the shoe brand I wear a size 14 or 15. My feet are slightly wide but I don't alway need wide fit. These size 14 fit well with wide enough toe box. I've tried slip in shoes before and they just don't feel right. These somehow work and there is no heel slip. My only reservation is the high lip on the heel for slip-in and hope they dont catch pant hems. I gave 4 stars because I'll have to determine durability. Granted they are a light fabric shoe with a soft rubber tread. I'd like them to last for at least 6 months..and use them for business casual work wear during warm weather.
