The Glow of Emerald Resin
The defining feature of this pen is its "luminescent" barrel. The semi-translucent emerald green resin is constructed with a narrow space between the outer barrel and an inner lining, allowing light to pass through and play within the material. This creates a visual depth that makes the pen appear to glow from within, perfectly contrasting with the brushed matte 23.3K gold-plated cap.
Architecture & Performance
-
The "Buttery" Inlaid Nib: The soul of the Edson is its distinctive 18K solid gold inlaid nib. While it is famously stiff—often compared to writing with a high-precision nail—it is celebrated for being "smooth as glass" on paper.
-
High-Altitude Engineering: Designed for the modern executive, the Edson features a sophisticated three-fissure ink feed system. Waterman famously guaranteed this system to be leak-proof up to 30,000 feet, preventing ink discharge caused by aircraft cabin pressure changes.
-
Commanding Presence: This is a substantial, oversized pen designed for those who prefer weight and girth. It weighs approximately 47 grams (capped) and measures 15.2 cm in length, giving it a commanding feel in the hand that rivals other "grail" pens like the Montblanc 149.
Collector's Value
While the Sapphire Blue was the "classic" edition, the Emerald Green and Ruby Red versions were produced in smaller quantities and are now considered significantly rarer on the secondary market. Uses Waterman cartridges and converter. Converter included
