Sterling Silver and 14K Gold Brother Wolf Wailing Wall Medallion

Rendered in 14k gold and sterling silver, this medallion is part of Brother Wolf’s collection of religious-inspired reproductions of antique relics. The relics, such as old pins, coins, and pendants, are sourced from churches, temples, and antique shops across Europe and Israel. When the jewelers find a special item, it is used to create a mold that includes all the details of the original piece, down to the tiny scratches and wear seen on the original, which gives the contemporary reproduction the same antique beauty of the relic. Brother Wolf is a family-owned business founded in 1989. The name Brother Wolf is a reference to St. Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals. In the legend of St. Francis, the saint tamed a dangerous wolf by treating him as a creature of God and calling him “Brother Wolf.” 

This medallion depicts an image of the Wailing Wall. The round, sterling silver medallion is framed by a 14k gold Art Nouveau vine-like border that wraps around the pendant, coming to a point at both sides and adorned by a dangling pearl at the base. The image of the wall is very detailed, with a forced perspective and vanishing point to the wall that draws the eye to the mourners wailing before it. The Wailing Wall is the most sacred site in the Jewish faith, and is the last remnant of the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. 

The pendant measures 1 1/4” x 1 3/4”, plus an additional 6.6 mm round bail. It weighs 6 grams. Marked as sterling silver, 14k gold, and “BW” for Brother Wolf, along with the copyright.
