COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Mastering Non-Verbal Communication in Business course. This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to understand what non-verbal communication (NVC) is, why it is essential in workplace interactions, and how non-verbal cues shape meaning, perception, credibility, and influence in business contexts. You will explore the importance of NVC, its role in management, and the functions it performs in reinforcing, substituting, regulating, or even contradicting verbal communication. This course also examines how emotions, interpersonal attitudes, and relational dynamics are expressed non-verbally, and how these subtle signals influence professional outcomes.

This course begins by exploring how NVC can replace verbal communication, complement the spoken word, or contradict what is said outright. You will examine how lying can manifest through many non-verbal indicators, such as inconsistencies in expression, gestures, tone, or posture. This section also explains how NVC helps negotiate relationships, regulate conversations, and contextualise interactions by providing cues that shape understanding, engagement, and rapport.

You will then explore the major forms of non-verbal communication, including body movement, posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, voice tone, interpersonal distance, and the use of physical space. This section examines the factors shaping interpersonal distance and how different distances signal levels of intimacy, authority, or formality. You will also explore the relationship between seating arrangements and interaction patterns, learning how the physical layout of tables, chairs, and rooms influences cooperation, control, and communication flow.

A further component examines how facial expressions and emotional states are linked, and why the human face is one of the strongest conveyors of meaning. You will explore the importance of gaze and eye contact, how eye direction relates to thinking states, and how these cues can indicate concentration, memory retrieval, uncertainty, or internal reflection. This section also outlines the five main types of gesture and explains how gestures influence message clarity and emotional intensity in business settings.

Another learning area focuses on the communication value of the work environment, examining how office designs communicate power and hierarchy. You will explore how office props—such as desk placement, décor, artwork, or technology—shape impressions of organisational climate and leadership style. This section also evaluates how dress suitability depends on the profession and the image intended, highlighting common dress rules in business and how appearance influences perceived competence and approachability.

The course also examines myths and misconceptions about body language. You will explore whether body language is really 93% of communication, whether liars make eye contact, and whether the “Superman” or “Wonder Woman” pose affects blood chemistry. You will also examine whether crossed arms always signal resistance, whether eye direction correlates with lying, and whether body language can reliably reveal someone’s thoughts. This section challenges oversimplified claims and encourages evidence-based interpretation rather than assumptions.

You will then explore whether body language can disguise true feelings and whether talking with your hands is considered unprofessional. This section highlights how controlled non-verbal behaviour can influence impressions, but also how certain internal states inevitably leak through subtle cues. You will analyse the professional value of gestures, the cultural variability of non-verbal norms, and how authenticity strengthens trust and communication effectiveness.

By the end of this course, you will be able to understand the functions of NVC, interpret non-verbal signals accurately, use body language to support professional communication, analyse environmental and spatial cues, challenge common body-language myths, and apply non-verbal intelligence to leadership, management, negotiation, and everyday workplace interactions.

My dog loves it!
Style: Ball, Size: Medium (Pack of 1)
This crunch ball was a Christmas gift for my 65lbs fur baby. It’s now mid April and he still loves it. He loves running after it and chomping down on it. It is still in good shape despite all the chomping it’s gotta . I highly recommend. He goes back to this toy agin and again! Great buy.

Toughest ball we have found yet. Our doberman loves Chuckit! Balls especially the crunch one. He spreads all the balls and toys we have bought but these lasted the longest. The crunch and the glow in the dark are usually his pick but he has several different choices.

Great
Size: Medium, Number of Items: 1
I need something that was soft for my three year old and this ball is super great, it not only is the right size but it also fits in his mouth just right. Although he is a super aggressive chewer, the ball toy hasn't been totally destroyed yet and it is easy on his gums. The ball is so durable that got two of these toys just for fun.

The best!
UPDATE: 08/05/2025 - This is still one of my dog's 2 fav training/play toys. A couple of notes: 1. This is not a chew toy. If your pup is chewing up the rope, that's on you. That being said, you can get 100' of the poly cord rope at Home Depot for like $4.98. You can make nearly 100 ropes out of 100'. How hard is it to replace the rope????? 2. My pup is a now 15 month old Malinois. His original balls, purchase in September 2024 are still in everyday, multiple times per day, play. I did get careless and leave one where he got it and chew the rope. Easily replaced. Nothing to fret over. Yes, that was on me! 3.The foam ball is virtually indestructible! Replace the rope! 4. I noticed the price for the yellow large went from $12 each to $24. THIS will cause me to go elsewhere if they doubled in price. I LOVE these balls but not that much. I noticed they have a new yellow ball that has a strap vs. a rope. I might try that if I need one, but I have 6 of these balls, 2 never used yet, 2 that are virtually new looking, and 2 that have been in play since september 2024. I don't think I'll be buying more any time soon, but if I do need more, I hope they haven't gone up to $24 each. One of my top, go-to training tools. Quality is great other than the shrink wrap around the string joint. It's junk but not essential. Great tug and fetch toy. Essential to teaching a good "out" command (2 are recommended for this).
