Excerpt from foreword; "The pages, then, that follow are intended chiefly as a tribute to the pioneers whose work, whether in an artistic, a mechanical, or any other capacity, laid the foundations of the very important art-industry of manufacturing paper-hangings which has been built up in this country. The scope of the book is as comprehensive as it has been practicable to make it. Beginning with the first crude attempts to use paper bearing a design or picture as a form of decoration in substitution for the costly gilt embossed leathers and figured textiles of the period, the development in technical and artistic achievement is traced down to the year 1914."

If definitely feels cool to the touch although still have doubts about ability to cool my dogs. I have not trained my dogs to lay on it so I’m not sure if they know how to use the cooling pads but I do see my one dog lay on it from time to time so perhaps it is effective, not sure. Cooling pad slips and it folds ups because there is no grip on the bottom side. It feels smooth and soft to the touch because of the fabric on the outside. I plan on brining it in my dog stroller in the summer and should be better than having no cooling pad. Although not as cool as an ice pack, this cooling pad doesn’t require refrigeration and always stays cool to the touch and no condensation. Not sure if it’s worth the money for the price because not sure if it works. A four pack for $32 seems reasonable but not sure if it’s worth it.

After carefully flopping him on top of it and made stupid sounds, he inevitably decided to actually try it his way thus (while not a box) liked it. I was surprised that after two weeks the mat was still cool and scratch-free from his murder mittens. While he does flop on the mat from time to time, he enjoys dragging it, flipping it in a viscous cycle of who-knows what the heck is going on his mind! Either way, if I could give it 9/10 stars I would as the instructions fails to inform user of a highly kitty imagination is required. No worries tho! Beau figured this out two days into flopping on top of it.
