COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Dealing with Toxic Elderly Clients course. This program will equip you with the knowledge, context, and practical intervention skills required to understand, identify, and respond constructively to toxic behaviours displayed by elderly clients. You will explore what “toxic” means in the context of ageing, why the term “toxic agers” is used, and how toxic ageing compares with successful ageing.

This course also examines definitions and explanations of toxic agers, who they are, what causes toxicity, and whether extroversion or introversion influences its expression. You will explore what constitutes toxic behaviour, whether toxicity involves verbal abuse, emotional blackmail, or mental illness, and how multiple diagnoses may contribute to toxic patterns. This section also examines the relationship between toxicity and physical challenges, whether toxicity is found across different ethnic groups and cultures, how toxic agers are perceived, and why there is increasing focus on understanding this population. This part of the course also highlights how to raise consciousness around toxic ageing, the difference between nourishment and toxicity, and the characteristics of self-induced toxicity.

This course then examines the unmet needs and emotional drivers behind toxic behaviours. You will explore why toxic agers are often starved for nurturance, why they may be perceived as failures, and how they tend to act as explainers who justify their behaviour. This section also examines why toxic agers may be unable to give, how they often function as poor receivers, how they instil obligation in others, and why they may be greedy, insatiable, insecure, or fearful. You will explore how toxic agers often see themselves as helpless victims, the oppressive nature and attitude they may exhibit, and why they are frequently ineffective communicators who paradoxically prefer being miserable as a default emotional state.

A further learning area focuses on recognising toxic behaviours. You will explore how we know when an elderly client is toxic by examining behavioural characteristics, labelling issues, nonverbal signs, personal signs, and public behaviour signs. This section also explores how individuals can identify toxicity in themselves, using a self-assessment toxicity indicator that supports self-reflection and behavioural awareness among caregivers and service providers.

The program then moves to intervention and coping strategies. You will examine how to intervene and cope with toxic agers and whether treatment options exist. This section emphasises the importance of training, the fundamental rules for working with toxic agers, and why knowing yourself first is critical to maintaining boundaries and emotional stability. You will explore how to understand what you are dealing with, how to understand your client, and how the levels of dysfunction influence behavioural patterns. This section also introduces the three levels of difficult behaviours and the basic guidelines for coping effectively with toxic elderly clients.

The final learning area examines practical therapeutic and communication techniques. You will explore Feil’s validation method, the ten-second confrontation assertion technique, and the broken record assertion skill that supports calm, persistent boundary-setting. This section also includes tips from experienced service providers on how to manage toxic agers and examines the use of transactional analysis and responsible assertion training as supportive frameworks for healthier communication.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand the psychological, behavioural, and emotional drivers behind toxic ageing; recognise toxic patterns and their signs; apply structured intervention techniques; maintain professional boundaries; and respond effectively and compassionately to elderly clients who exhibit difficult, disruptive, or harmful behaviours.

Great product, it works!
This moisturizer has help me a lot with my sunspots, I see the difference big time. I’m in my 3 bottle I think, and I also use their serum and night cream along with the face soap. Love this line of products and I’m coming from using Lancôme for years (my fave brand in so many products). I’d definitely recommend. I don’t find the creams smelling weird or with a sense at all (like some other people have said) and I have a K9 nose.

Simple but effective
I do like Eucerin products and this night cream is predictably smooth. I haven't noticed any miraculous change in my dark spots but I'm more interested in just keeping my skin soft. A little goes A LONG way so this bottle will last quite a while.

Great for Kids, Smells Nice, and No Harsh Chemicals
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)
This sunscreen spray is easy to apply, not greasy, and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. The tropical fruit scent is light and pleasant, which makes it easier to convince kids to wear it. I also like that Alba Botanica avoids oxybenzone and other harsh chemicals. It holds up well for swimming and outdoor play. The 2-pack is convenient to keep one at home and one in the beach bag. It is a great deal!

Does not spray
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)
Does not spray!!! This is the second set I purchased and I have had issues that I was unable to spray with 3 of the 4 bottles. Was incredibly inconvenient when we brought a new bottle on vacation and it didn't work. Company would not send a replacement - only a physical coupon. I cannot find the sunscreen in stores and the coupon only covers about half a new bottle.
