Stone’s Original Green Ginger is a highly flavoured wine. The ginger is grown in Buderim in Queensland, where whole ginger roots are dried and processed before despatch to Angove’s. We draw the character from the ginger root by infusing it in spirit for over a week. After this period of steeping, the infusion is added to a clean neutral dry white wine which is blended with other, secret, components before bottling. Stone’s Original Green Ginger is a rich golden brown colour with a powerful pungent ginger aroma. This spicy character follows on the palate where its zest is quite noticeable, but moderated by a softening sweetness. The aftertaste is fairly warming and this sensation contributes a certain glow to the palate.

Produced in England since 1740, Stone’s Original Green Ginger Wine has been made in Australia to the same ancient formula by Angove’s Pty. Ltd. since the early 1960’s.

Ginger is one of the oldest herbs known to man and is popular in oriental cooking and confectionary. Ginger has also been linked with many therapeutic values. The ginger used for Stone’s Ginger Wine is grown in Queensland at Buderim. The character of the ginger is drawn out by infusing it in spirit for an extended period. This infusion is then added to a neutral dry white wine, before it is then blended further with other components to make one of the varieties of fortified wines under the “Stone’s” family label.
