A soft-sided travel booster for small dogs who'd rather see the world from the back seat than slide off it on every roundabout.

PupRide is a fabric car booster that loops to your back-seat headrests, gives your small or toy-breed dog a contained spot to sit, and saves your upholstery from claws, hair and damp paws. Water-resistant outer, mesh side panels for ventilation, internal safety tether, folds flat when you're not using it. For everyday trips — the vet, the park, weekends away with your Yorkie — not a substitute for a crash-tested harness on motorways.

Honest bit — please read before buying. PupRide is a comfort and containment booster, not a crash-tested safety device. It keeps small dogs settled and out of the footwell on everyday journeys, and protects your seats from paw-prints and shedding. For motorway driving, longer trips, or any dog over 9 kg, we strongly recommend pairing this with — or replacing it with — a properly crash-tested dog seatbelt harness clipped to a working seatbelt anchor. The UK Highway Code (Rule 57) requires that dogs are suitably restrained in vehicles. This booster on its own contains your dog; a harness keeps them safe in a collision. Different jobs.

Who it's for

PupRide earns its keep in three households:

  • Small-dog and toy-breed owners doing everyday journeys. Yorkies, Chihuahuas, Mini Dachshunds, Pomeranians, Cavalier King Charles, Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Jack Russell, Mini Poodle. The vet, the park, the garden centre, the weekend cottage. Settled, contained, can see out the window.
  • New-puppy households introducing the car for the first time. Soft, enclosed, low-stimulation, easy to clean if there's a nervous-tummy moment. Better than the back-seat-skidding-around alternative.
  • Senior small-dogs who can't (or shouldn't) leap on and off the seat anymore. You lift them in, they sit comfortably, you lift them out. Saves their joints and your back.

Who it's NOT for

  • Medium and large dogs. If your dog is over about 9 kg or stands taller than ~25 cm at the shoulder, this is too small. They'll be cramped and you'll return it.
  • Strong pullers, escape artists, or anxious leapers. The tether will hold a calm small dog; it's not designed to restrain a determined puller.
  • Motorway commuters or long-distance drivers. A crash-tested harness clipped to your seatbelt is the safer choice at speed.
  • Front-seat use. Airbags + dogs is a bad combination. Back seat only, please.

Size and fit

Dimension Measurement
Length 39 cm (15.4")
Width 39 cm (15.4")
Height 27 cm (10.6")
Suitable for dogs up to ~9 kg (small and toy breeds)

Measure your dog's seated height (shoulder to floor) and add 5 cm of clearance. If they're taller than 27 cm sitting up, this isn't the right product for them.

FAQs

Is this a crash-tested car seat?

No, and we'll never claim it is. Crash-tested dog car restraints (the kind certified by the Center for Pet Safety) cost upwards of £150 and are tested at automotive crash standards. PupRide is a comfort-and-containment booster — it keeps a small dog settled and out of the footwell on everyday trips. For real safety in a collision, pair this with a separately-purchased crash-tested seatbelt harness, or use the harness on its own.

What size dog does it actually fit?

Small and toy breeds up to about 9 kg — Yorkshire Terrier, Chihuahua, Mini Dachshund, Toy Poodle, Pomeranian, Cavalier King Charles, Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Jack Russell, Maltese. Internal space is 39 × 39 × 27 cm. If your dog stands taller than 27 cm sitting up, or weighs more than 9 kg, this will be too small.

Is it really waterproof?

It's water-resistant, not waterproof. The 900D Oxford outer with PVC backing handles paw-mud, drool, light spills and the occasional wet-dog moment without soaking through. The seams aren't sealed though, so a tipped water bowl or a torrential downpour through an open window would eventually get through. For everyday wet-paw protection, it does the job. If you want literal waterproof, you're looking at a sealed crate.

How does it install?

Two webbing straps with quick-release buckles loop around the headrest posts of your back seat — same idea as a child's car seat tether. Sit the booster on the seat, loop, click, tighten. Takes about 30 seconds the first time and 10 seconds after that. There's also an internal short tether that clips to your dog's harness so they can't leap out of the open top.

Front seat or back seat?

Back seat only, please. Front-passenger-seat use puts a small dog directly in line with the airbag, which can be fatal for a pet in even a minor collision. The back seat is also less stimulating for nervous travellers and keeps the dog out of the driver's eyeline.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the inside and outside with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday cleaning. For a deeper clean, the fabric pad usually comes out and can be hand-washed cold and air-dried — confirm care label on yours when it arrives. Don't machine-wash with the frame in.

Will my dog actually sit in it?

Most do, given a few short journeys to get used to it. Help them along: leave it open in the lounge for a few days with a familiar blanket inside so it smells like home, treat them for getting in willingly, keep the first car trips short and end them somewhere good (the park, not the vet). For dogs who already enjoy car rides, it's usually a one-trip transition.

What does the law say about dogs in cars?

UK Highway Code Rule 57: "When in a vehicle, make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly." A loose dog in the car can also invalidate your insurance after a collision. The most legally-defensible setup is a properly crash-tested seatbelt harness clipped to a working seatbelt anchor — PupRide on its own keeps your dog contained, but a harness is what makes the setup compliant in spirit and safer in fact.

Comfortable and stylish
Size: 12, Color: Black
I'm very pleased with these shoes. I rarely write reviews, but these are extremely comfortable and stylish. I bought a black pair and a brown paid. Many times I have to get a wide, but the standard size 12 fits me well. Easy to slip into, yet still snug while walking. I feel like the price is reasonable too. Good cushioning, not too thin of a sole.

Good looking shoe.
Size: 9 Wide, Color: Cognac
It's a good looking should which is true to size. Quality is good. However, it is not leather. Inner and outer covering are man made. For me, it's okay. I ordered a 9W which I knew would be no more than a triple E width. I'm actually a quadruple E width so it's taking a little longer to break in. I won't be using these as often as at this stage of my life, I don't have that have functions that require dressier shoes. I'm happy with this purchase, a good value for the price. The slip in feature works well like my Sketcher slip in.

Great shoes and very comfortable. Not very durable in my opinion. Good for dress or casual.

Sleek, upscale and supremely comfortable
Size: 9, Color: Cognac
I did not know that Marc Joseph makes hands free slip ins. I own four pair of Skechers, and I thought they were the only game in town. I decided that I wanted a pair of business casual pair of wingtips. I already own two pair of Skechers Mark Nason wingtips in blue and black nubuck, so I bought a pair of their cognac colored. Perfectly fine shoes, but when they arrived, I didn't like the color, so the search was on! I found these cognac-colored Mark Joseph's and hands down, they fit the bill for what I was looking for! I actually bought two more pair of Skechers in the brown family in the same oxford, elastic lace style: One pair of another style of their Mark Nason line and one pair of their Garza line. So now I am comparing three pair of Skechers to the Marc Joseph's. Obsessive, I know :). Luckily, I have a Skechers store near me for easy returns. The look I was going for is a sleek, business casual that I could dress up or down. Three things that I love about the Marc Joseph's are the beautiful cognac finish: the white yet lower profile soles and the more formal, narrower toe style. The MJ's nailed it with the color. They have a slightly darker, more lustrous and glossier look than the others. The color alone looks classier and pairs well with black pants which I wear for work almost every day. The white soles are exactly what I was looking for. The visible rise is probably about a third of the thickness of the others and are a much more subtle, classier look. They offset the cognac color nicely but are not that in your face, sneaker looking, thick white sole. When I was comparing them to the others right out of the box, I thought they would be too narrow and tight because they looked sleeker and narrower than the others. But they fit perfectly and were very comfortable right out of the box. Upon closer inspection and comparison, I realized the narrower, sleeker look is because the eyelets for the elastic shoelaces are closer together that give the illusion that the shoe is narrower. They compensate for what might create a tighter fit across the top of your foot with two stretchy "gores" they are called on either side of the upper part. The "slits" are nicely finished, and you can't see the stretchy part and add a nice design touch to the shoe. But between them and the elastic shoelaces, they must stretch just enough to make them extremely comfortable across the top. So, if you have a high instep/arch, they should accommodate it nicely. Last but not least, they are very comfortable shoes. I wear a size 8 1/2 to 9 and my foot is slightly on the wide side. I bought the size 9's and they fit perfectly. If you are between sizes or have wider feet, you may want to size up a half size. Because the Skechers have much thicker soles, they might be slightly more cushioned, but the MJ's are cushioned more than enough for my purposes and very comfortable. Plus, they actually just feel better on my feet. I can't speak to how durable they will be as I just got them, but so far, so good. So, there you have it. I rely on other people's reviews a lot when buying online, and especially for shoes. I know it's always a crap shoot, particularly when buying shoes online, so I hope this review helps. Everybody's feet are different, but I highly recommend these.
