Miles Davis' earliest masterpiece Birth of the Cool gets the royal treatment in celebration of the legendary trumpeter's Centennial.

Following his trial-by-fire tenure in the Charlie Parker Quintet in the mid-1940s, Davis emerged with bolstered confidence and a creative hunger to explore new directions. A regular gathering of like-minded musicians at arranger Gil Evans' Manhattan apartment provided the workshop at which the Miles Davis Nonet was born, and in 1949-50 Davis led three seminal sessions for Capitol Records that documented this exciting new music with a cast of collaborators including Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz, J.J. Johnson, Kai Winding, John Lewis, Max Roach, Kenny Clarke, and others. The nonet featured a unique instrumentation with French horn and tuba to create new textures influenced by impressionist classical music that inspired lyrical improvisations by the band's soloists on arrangements of pieces by Davis, Evans, Mulligan, Lewis, Denzil Best, Bud Powell, Johnny Mercer, and more.

Blue Note Tone Poet Series

The Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series was born out of Blue Note President Don Was' admiration for the exceptional audiophile Blue Note LP reissues presented by Music Matters. Was brought Joe Harley, a.k.a. the "Tone Poet," on board to curate and supervise a series of reissues from the Blue Note family of labels.

Extreme attention to detail has been paid to getting these right in every conceivable way, from the jacket graphics and printing quality to superior LP mastering (direct from the master tapes) by Kevin Gray to superb 180g audiophile LP pressings by Record Technology Inc. Every aspect of these Tone Poet releases is done to the highest possible standard. It means that you will never find a superior version. This is IT.

This mono Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) from the original analog phono reel master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket featuring session photos.

My Review...
Format: Paperback
This is a great addition to the Simpsons' book family. It is just like the show, but you can spend as much time reading it as you want. I think this book is extermly fuuny. I have read pretty much every Simpsons' book and this is worth being next with them. I love how the Simpsons' comedy is different than other cartoons and even shows. The comedy is not always dark but it is not always light either. "Little Shop of Homers" was a great finisher. I wish it would of been longer, but it is OK. As with most people, one of my favorite parts in the Simpsons' comics are the in between things. For example, "Moe's Guide To Superstitions", "Bart Simpson-Master Of Disguise presents The Quick 'N' Easy, Low-Budget Do-It-Yourself Guide To COOL COSTUMES". Well, that is all I can really say. I suggest Simpson fans should read this. Keep them coming and I will keep reading.. Have A Nice LiFE! Ryan

Best halloween special yet!
Format: Paperback
This is another of the many must have books for the true simpson fan. This book provides hours of laughs and would make a great gift. It has main stories, and in between shorts such as Springfield in #%*$, and a yocals guide to Halloween. I enjoy this book every time I pick it up, and you should to!

Holistic Understanding
Format: Paperback
I passed my CAPM exam in December 2025. This book helped me understand how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together for the CAPM. I also supplemented with other resources, but this book helped really tie everything together. Read it all and do all the practice quizzes and tests to really get a solid understanding. I'll look for PMP related books by the same author. Very well written and easy to understand.

Buy this one. It is straight to the point!
Format: Paperback
I don't usually write reviews. But this book was amazing. It was a life saver to have me refresh from my masters degree. I read domains three and four. Then I went through about 400 of the practice questions and was able to ace my exam above target in all domains. It is really easy to follow and I will be using it as a stepping stone when it is time to take the PMP exam. Definitely buy this one.

Helped Me Pass the CAPM
Format: Paperback
You need more than this to pass the exam, but this is an excellent study guide and structure. The practice questions are way easier than the actual exam. Don't let them give you a sense of false confidence. Especially if you don't have experience. I recommend to Google project management courses, IBM, or there's another one on Udemy. Use the PMI practice exam, too.
