The ActiveAid 600 Series is a clinical-grade rehab shower commode designed to work across the full spectrum of user needs — from someone early in rehabilitation who needs basic shower seating to a long-term care client who requires precise seat positioning and reliable daily performance from a caregiver. The stainless steel frame with corrosion-resistant finish is built for wet-environment use without the degradation you see in aluminum or PVC chairs over time. This listing is the standard four-caster configuration — four dual-locking casters, attendant-propelled, compact overall footprint.

Frame widths run from 18" to 22". Seat depth options are 18", 20", and 22". Multiple seat styles are available including several 4-way adjustable designs with opening access in any direction — front, rear, or either side — so a caregiver can provide hygiene care from the position that works without having to reposition the patient. Swing-away padded armrests, gooseneck leg rests with adjustable footplates, solid back, waist belt, and pan hanger are all included standard. Supports up to 350 lbs.

If you need the chair to roll more smoothly over floor transitions between carpet and tile, the 5" caster version handles transitions better. If the user can self-propel, 20" or 24" rear wheel versions are available — call us to discuss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this standard version and the 5" caster version?
The standard four-caster version uses smaller dual-locking casters optimized for smooth tile and clinical floor surfaces. The 5" caster version has larger 5" casters that handle floor transitions — carpet to tile, slight threshold lips — more smoothly. For a purely tile bathroom environment, either works. For a home with carpet in the bedroom and tile in the bathroom, the 5" casters are the better choice.

Can this chair be configured for a multi-patient facility?
Yes — the 600 Series is specifically designed for both individual home use and multi-user clinical settings. The range of frame widths, seat depths, and seat opening directions means the same chair platform can be configured differently for different patients. Call us to discuss facility ordering.

How do I choose the right frame width?
Measure the user's hip width when seated and add 1–2" on each side. The 18" frame is appropriate for most standard-size users. The 20" and 22" frames are for users who need more lateral space. Getting this right matters — too wide and the user lacks lateral support, too narrow and transfers become difficult.

What does the waist belt do?
The included waist belt provides postural security for users who may shift forward during showering or toileting — not a restraint, but a positioning aid that keeps the user safely seated without constant caregiver intervention. It's adjustable and easy to release.

Is the stainless steel frame noticeably heavier than aluminum?
Yes — stainless steel is heavier than aluminum. For a home caregiver managing the chair daily, the weight difference is worth noting. The tradeoff is significantly longer service life in a wet environment and resistance to the frame flex and joint loosening that develops in aluminum chairs with heavy daily use over time.

Can I upgrade to rear wheels later?
The 20" and 24" rear wheel versions are configured at the factory — the wheel mounts, axles, and anti-tipping levers are part of the frame assembly. This is not a field upgrade. If there's a possibility the user will want self-propulsion capability, order the wheel version from the start. Call us to discuss which configuration fits the current and anticipated needs.

They look nice but they aren’t sturdy and do not hold much weight. I’ve bought better ones on Amazon.

Really good wall amounts. I used the drywall anchors and it feels sturdy. I put like a 3 pound Crystal on it and it’s holding perfectly fine. I also was able to paint them with no problem would buy again.
