Moreover, the lotus is associated with the fruitfulness of summer, and lotus seed pods symbolize fertility and offspring in Chinese traditional culture.

Here is a series of Chinese lotus paintings. The brushwork is pure and moist, with ink used for chiaroscuro, which creates complementary halos revealing the texture of the plants. Several flowers were done in the "baimiao (白描)" fine ink-line manner, adding to the sense of pure elegance and serenity.
