DonJoy Renegade Rigid Knee Brace

The DonJoy Renegade is a high-performance clinical orthosis engineered for the advanced stabilization of the knee joint following ligamentous trauma or surgical reconstruction. By utilizing a high-strength, aircraft-grade aluminum frame and the patented Four-Points-of-Leverage™ system, this brace creates a Zero-Friction environment that actively reduces ACL strain by managing translational forces. The Renegade is specifically designed for patients with active lifestyles, featuring a low-profile aesthetic and a tapered frame that contours to the leg's natural anatomy. Whether configured for ACL protection or Combined Instabilities (CI), this brace is the premier clinical choice for patients requiring a robust mechanical anchor to support a safe return to high-demand functional activities and athletics.

Clinical Features & Patient Benefits

  • Four-Points-of-Leverage™ System: Features a "Zero-Friction" mechanical design that provides a constant dynamic force to the tibia, significantly reducing strain on the ACL during movement.
  • Ultra-Lightweight Aluminum Frame: Provides "Zero-Friction" structural integrity without added bulk, ensuring the brace remains comfortable and secure during high-intensity activity.
  • Standard or Short Calf Options: Specifically engineered for a "Zero-Friction" personalized fit; the short-calf version is designed to prevent interference with ski boots, motocross gear, or high-top athletic footwear.
  • Anatomically Contoured Supracondylar Pad: Utilizes high-quality, non-slip padding that facilitates "Zero-Friction" grip, preventing brace migration and ensuring the hinge remains perfectly aligned with the joint axis.

The Clinical Authority: Why Professionals Trust the Renegade

Orthopedic specialists and Sports Medicine Practitioners specify the DonJoy Renegade for its "dynamic-stability" capabilities. Its "Zero-Friction" environment is the gold standard for managing moderate-to-severe ligamentous laxity and providing post-operative security. By providing a rigid external frame that anchors the femur and tibia, the brace effectively offloads the cruciate ligaments while allowing for a full, protected range of motion. This targeted approach is highly effective for improving patient confidence and facilitating a safe progression back to weight-bearing and impact activities.

FAQ: Stabilization & Configuration

What is "CI" vs "ACL" configuration?
The "Zero-Friction" ACL version is optimized for anterior stability, while the Combined Instability (CI) version includes additional strapping to manage both ACL and PCL/MCL/LCL weaknesses simultaneously.

Why would I choose a "Short Calf" version?
The "Zero-Friction" short-calf design is ideal for patients who wear high boots or who find that a standard-length brace rubs against their lower leg muscles or footwear during sports.

Does it fit either leg?
No. To ensure a "Zero-Friction" anatomical fit, the Renegade is specifically contoured for either the Left or Right knee.

Specifications & Sizing Table

Selection is based on the circumference of the thigh (6" above mid-patella). Measure carefully for an optimal "Zero-Friction" clinical fit:

Nice design, pay attention to the size specification
Size: Small (Pack of 1), Style: Monkey
Nice toy with minimal appendages - meaning that body parts are not quickly chewed off. I made the mistake of getting this one along with one for the Large dog. This monkey is intended to be a small dog toy and as soon as I felt it, I knew my English Shepherd of 8 months would probably have it torn up within a day or two. I really like the design - no ropes or braids or legs, no small pieces for the eyes, etc. The monkey does have a small curly-Q tail but so far it's stayed attached to the monkey. It's durability has surprised me so far. For years I have had a Jack Russell terrier, which I think might be considered a small/medium dog (at least mine was). This toy would have lasted him weeks or even months, he didn't set out to eat his toys. Now I have an English Shepherd and I forget that she's probably considered a large dog. She rarely chews up anything EXCEPT her toys, but when she gets a new toy, she spends hours "getting to know it" and she's got pretty sharp teeth. The fabric on this toy is durable, not easily torn. Because there is no stuffing the squeaker is easy for the dog to squeak - and if your dog hasn't had squeaky toys before, that might freak them out just a little, it did my dog, she started off apprehensive of the toy but quickly grew to enjoy it. Because this toy is hollow and not dense, my dog doesn't chew on it the same way as she did her rope-style toy, and therefore this toy has lasted longer than the KONG Pudge Braidz Pig Dog Toy, Medium/Large toy (which lasted about 10 minutes). Someone else here posted some good pictures of their larger sized dog with this toy, and that dog looks to be about the same size as mine. That person stated the toy didn't last long and showed pictures of how it looked after being dismantled. I expect that to happen to this one since that dog's size is similar to mine, although it's lasted so far more than a day. I guess it partially depends on not just the toy but the dog, too. Because there's no density to this toy, my dog doesn't seem to want to chew it like she does a bone, instead she tosses and wrestles it, occasionally making it squeak, then lies down next to it and takes a nap. All in all, this is so far, my favorite dog toy brand. It's less dangerous than the Kong toys or the Nylabone toys, and especially less dangerous than the rope style toys. I purchased several other Petstages toys and so far, they have lasted longer than any other brand, including those named. I just should have been more attentive to the recommended dog size, as this toy is clearly not ideal for large dogs. The Petstages Gator toy is better for a large dog. I have also purchased that one and find it much more suitable.

Could be made much stronger & better
Size: Small (Pack of 1), Style: Monkey
Only 3 stars because the long fur is nasty and dogs chew it and it comes off … choking hazard. I trim it when I get them. The fabric is to easily tear doednt last long they should make this much stronger. I’ve bought 4 of these and about to buy 2 more my dogs love them.

great dog toy for small and large!
Size: Medium (Pack of 1), Style: Gator
we have a very large silver lab that tears through toys, and very fast! some toys only last a day while others last a week or so... he has yet to tear this on up at all and we have had it for about 3 weeks. we also have a very small teacup yorkie, so some toys we get he cannot even play with, this one he can squeak and carry around which is great! it very quickly became one of their favorite toys! will buy again if he ever does destroy it !!! update: after a month of the lab and small yorkie playing with this some of the fabric stared to tear on the end of the toy, they still love it and it still squeaks perfectly fine. didn't think it would last this long with the big lab, will order new one when they do finally destroy it for good
