What is Flutiform?

Flutiform is an aerosol inhaler, often called a pressurised metered dose inhaler (pMDI), and it contains two active ingredients: fluticasone and formoterol. This combination inhaler is ideal for individuals with severe asthma to help prevent ongoing symptoms.

Fluticasone helps to lessen swelling and inflammation in the lungs. Formoterol works by keeping your lung airways open, making it easier for you to breathe.

Regularly using a Flutiform inhaler as part of your asthma treatment will help improve your breathing over time and prevent wheezing and breathlessness.

What is it used for?

Flutiform is a preventer inhaler, designed to help you manage and improve your asthma symptoms over time. It's typically prescribed for those with severe asthma due to its higher doses of active ingredients. Fluticasone, an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), works by reducing certain cells in the lungs from releasing chemicals that lead to inflammation, which is what makes your chest feel tight.

Formoterol is a long-acting bronchodilator, often referred to as a long-acting beta 2 agonist. These medications help keep your lung airways open, preventing blockages that can lead to wheezing and breathlessness, making it easier for you to breathe.

The Flutiform inhaler isn't suitable for use during an asthma attack. If your chest feels tight and you're wheezing, you should use a fast-acting reliever inhaler, such as salbutamol.

What doses does Flutiform come in?

Flutiform is available in various doses, and your clinician will prescribe the safest one to manage your asthma symptoms.

If you have severe asthma, your doctor might suggest using the 250mcg fluticasone/10mcg formoterol strength.

If your symptoms are moderate, you may be given the 125mcg fluticasone/5mcg formoterol dose.

For mild symptoms, a clinician may recommend the 50 mcg fluticasone/5 mcg formoterol dose.

What types of Flutiform inhalers are there?

At the moment, Flutiform is only available as an aerosol inhaler, also known as a pMDI. This inhaler is activated by pressing a button, so you'll need to coordinate pressing it with inhaling.

There was another version called Flutiform K-haler, which was bioequivalent to Flutiform, meaning it was the same. This inhaler was breath-actuated, so the dose was released when you breathed in, instead of pressing down on it. It was available in two doses: 125mcg/5mcg and 50mcg/5mcg.

The Flutiform K-haler was discontinued in August 2021.

I don’t think it’s working, what should I do?

If you continue to feel wheezy and short of breath while using Flutiform, keep using it but do get in touch with your clinician. They can guide you on any additional treatment you might require. When your asthma is well-managed, your clinician might begin to lower your Flutiform dose.

If you've used your inhaler too much, it's important to contact your doctor as soon as possible, as this can lead to serious side effects. Taking large doses might lower steroid hormone levels, which can impact the functioning of your adrenal glands.

If you've forgotten to use your inhaler, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, just skip the missed one.

Is there a technique to use Flutiform inhalers?

If you're having trouble using your inhaler, speak to your prescriber. You might need a spacer device called AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu, which can help you inhale the medicine properly. They will demonstrate how to use it with your inhaler to make sure your asthma treatment is effective.

If you've used an aerosol inhaler before, you can apply the same technique with a Flutiform inhaler. The main difference is that Flutiform inhalers come with a counter, allowing you to see how many doses remain.

If you need further assistance, feel free to contact one of our clinicians, who will be glad to help.

Are there any alternatives to Flutiform?

There isn't another inhaler like Flutiform with the same combination of active ingredients, apart from the K-haler, which is no longer available.

Alternatively, you might be able to use individual inhalers, each containing one of the active ingredients:

Flixotide Evohaler or Accuhaler, both of which contain fluticasone; and:

Atimos Modulite, Formoterol Easyhaler, and Oxis Turbohaler all contain formoterol.

If you have severe asthma, our clinicians will guide you on the best ways to manage your symptoms. This will likely involve a combination treatment of a corticosteroid and a LABA.

Can you use Flutiform for COPD?

Even though Flutiform has fluticasone, which can be used to treat COPD, it should not be used for COPD.

If you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, your doctor will recommend which inhalers can help manage your symptoms.

People with COPD will require an inhaler with the right amount of fluticasone to help manage their symptoms.

Are there any side effects for Flutiform?

If you have any worries about using Flutiform, it's best to talk to your prescriber. Some less common symptoms you might notice are headaches, an irregular heartbeat, or a sore throat.

If it seems like your asthma is getting worse, let your doctor know as your dosage might need adjusting. If you're having an asthma attack, be sure to use your reliever inhaler.

Formoterol, the active ingredient, can cause effects like low potassium levels in the blood, irregular heartbeats, nausea, and muscle pain. However, these effects weren't observed in clinical trials for Flutiform inhalers.

It's also important to understand that inhaled corticosteroids can influence the usual levels of steroid hormones made by the adrenal gland, but this is less likely than with oral tablets.

Inhaled steroids can be taken in smaller doses, making them safer for long-term use and causing fewer side effects compared to tablets.

From a Long Time Hard Sole Dress Shoe Wearer, These are a Must Have!
Size: 12, Color: Blue
I have been wearing hard sole dress shoes for decades and with the full COVID shift to dressing super casual in a professional work environment, I was in the market for some more casual let dressy shoes that were a heck of a lot more comfortable and flexible than my hard soles so I thought I would give this brand and style a try. Oh man, I'm in love. These give you that dressier look yet you can totally dress them down with jeans or cordouroys, so versatile. As I did with my hard soles, I inserted one of my Nike Air in soles and man, these are so comfortable I bought navy and brown! I usually wear these with thin dress socks and they go perfectly with any type of suit set, a no brainer purchase here. I'm a 12 and bought a 12, perfect fit, not to skinny, not to wide, just right. Bottom sole grip is impressive, never felt unstable, solid rubber sole here. I decided to lace them up so there are not tying and the tongue does slip down sometimes so with this feature, best to use a metal shoe horn, then it's super easy to slide them on, they seem to take a beating and remain clean too, I've definitely scuffed them up against many things and still no damage, it's crazy, must have a great finish. NOTE TO Note to MANUFACTURER/SELLER - You need to make a version in GRAY in this specific style and I will buy them instantly, and I assure you they will be incredibly popular! Really not sure why there isn't more colors in these like gray, shades of gray, maybe red, lighter blue and maybe some with different tones in standard colors. Casual dress shoe wearers are looking for new and exciting bold colors so this is the perfect shoe type to deliver on that.

Finally, a dress shoe that actually feels like a sneaker!
Size: 8.5, Color: Dark Brown
I was honestly super skeptical about buying shoes on Amazon, especially "dress sneakers." Usually, they either look incredibly cheap in person or they completely destroy your heels within an hour. I am so glad I took a chance on these Bruno Marcs. I commute to campus and take the bus almost every day, so I end up doing a ton of walking. I needed something that looked sharp and put-together, but I absolutely refused to sacrifice comfort for a long day on my feet. These completely hit the mark. Right out of the box, there was zero break-in period—no stiffness, no pinching, and no blisters. They are incredibly lightweight, and the material actually looks premium, not like that shiny, fake plastic you sometimes get at this price point. The traction on the bottom is surprisingly good too, which is a lifesaver when I'm rushing to catch my bus on rainy mornings. If you’re on the fence, just get them. It’s rare to find a shoe that balances looking professional with feeling exactly like your favorite weekend sneaker. Easily one of the best wardrobe purchases I've made in a while!

High quality, perfect color and very nice price!
Size: 14, Color: Brown, Size: 14, Color: Brown
I bought this shoes for my husband's Christmas present, so he didn't try yet. So far, the color is perfect! I feel like he can wear this shoes with different outfits, for the price it seems hight quality, it is not heavy at all. The shoe features a soft, comfortable lining and the sole is perfect because it is non-slip.
