Barolo, Francesco RinaldiThe Francesco Rinaldi Barolo needs little introduction. The flagship wine from one of the regions most sought after names, this Barolo wine is an ambassador for this great region. The nose is broad and encapsulating, with hints of dried rose petals and wild violets peeking through the elegant red berry character and dusty earth notes. The palate is enveloping and silky, wild strawberries play with cranberries and truffles on the front which gives way
The Francesco Rinaldi Barolo needs little introduction. The flagship wine from one of the region’s most sought-after names, this Barolo wine is an ambassador for this great region. The nose is broad and encapsulating, with hints of dried rose petals and wild violets peeking through the elegant red berry character and dusty earth notes. The palate is enveloping and silky, wild strawberries play with cranberries and truffles on the front which gives way to an iron like minerality and an exquisite, balanced finish with beautiful acidity. This 100% Nebbiolo wine is serious, earthy and complex, a wine with power, elegance and intrigue all rolled into one. A bottle to savour with good company and some great food, game meat is a brilliant pairing for this Barolo, as are truffled or mushroom dishes, as are hard, strong cheeses
One of the leaders of the traditional Barolo producers, the Francesco Rinaldi Barolo spends 25 – 30 days on the skins in either stainless or cement vats, before it is transferred to large 5000L, Slavonian oak casks for three years. The use of large, old oak casks means that the Nebbiolo grapes can develop their fruit flavours and soften their tannins whilst not being masked by any oak influencesa. The wine then spends at least another year in bottle before release
Based in the heart of the Barolo village itself, which is one of the 11 villages that make up the Barolo wine region, the Francesco Rinaldi winery has been producing wine here since the late 19th century. Known for their respect of traditions and classically elegant wines, today the winery is run by fifth generation Rinaldis, sisters Paola and Piera. They cultivate 10 hectares of vines, between three of the Barolo villages. From their estate Gavi and Docletto, to their prized Barolo Brunate and Cannubbi, Francesco Rinaldi produces wines of distinction.
