The LifeVac device features a unique valve and suction mechanism specifically engineered to safely remove airway obstructions. This makes it suitable for a wide range of settings, including schools, childcare centres, restaurants, food service establishments, workplaces, and office buildings, where choking incidents may occur. Its design helps reduce the risk of pushing the blockage deeper into the airway, offering a safer alternative during emergencies and distinguishing it from inferior or non-regulated alternatives.

When the device is used, the mask forms a secure seal around the casualty’s mouth and nose. Depressing the handle forces air out through side vents via a one-way valve, preventing air from re-entering the mask and ensuring effective suction without forcing the obstruction further down the airway. To use the LifeVac, push and twist the mask onto the base, then hold it firmly over the person’s mouth and nose with their head tilted back. Using your dominant hand, depress the handle and pull upward with a short, swift tug. If the obstruction isn’t cleared, roll the person onto their side, clear any debris from their mouth, and repeat up to five times.
