Disneyland Eleanore Welborn RARE 1955 Laced "Main Street" Souvenir PlateThis is a very rare 1955 Disneyland souvenir plate designed by Eleanore Welborn, who had been selected by Walt Disney himself to be the first ceramic supplier prior to Disneyland's grand opening. This gold trimmed plate features a unique laced design, with an orange silk ribbon that is woven in between decorative holes along the boarder of the plate. This is a very rare 1955 Disneyland souvenir plate designed by Eleanore Welborn, who had been selected by Walt Disney himself to be the first ceramic supplier prior to Disneyland's grand opening. This gold trimmed plate features a unique laced design, with an orange silk ribbon that is woven in between decorative holes along the boarder of the plate. The art in the center of the plate is of 1955 Main Street in Disneyland, this version of Eleanore Welborn's Main Street seems to be rare, as it is harder to come by in comparison to the alternative version that shows a different angle of main street. The artwork is framed by a golden circle, and at the bottom of the artwork the word "Disneyland" is written in a matching gold. The initials E.W. are marked in the bottom right hand corner of the design. This plate has a diameter of "6 and 3/8in, there are no cracks or chips. There may be some discoloration and fraying in the ribbon, but it is almost 70 years old. Overall, this is a very rare collectible making it a great addition to any Disney collection.
