Installation Guide

  1. Preparation: Ensure the engine is off and cool. Gather all necessary tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, and a drain pan.
  2. Drain Engine Oil: Remove the drain plug using the new drain gasket (09168-12012) and allow old oil to fully drain into your pan.
  3. Replace Oil Filter: Remove the old oil filter (16510-61A31) and install the new one, ensuring the O-ring is properly seated.
  4. Install Drain Gaskets: Replace drain plug using new drain gaskets (09168-10034) as specified in your engine manual. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
  5. Replace Fuel Filter: Locate and remove the old fuel filter, then install the new fuel filter (15410-87L00) ensuring fuel line connections are secure.
  6. Remove Lower Unit: Disconnect the lower unit to access the water pump housing. Remove old cotter pin and replace with new (09204-03003).

  12. Test Run: Start the engine and check for leaks, proper water flow from the cooling system, and smooth operation.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I confirm this kit fits my specific Suzuki engine?
A: Verify your engine model number matches DF70A, DF80A, or DF90A manufactured from 2009 onwards. You can cross-reference your current OEM part number (17400-87810, 17400-87811, or 17400-87813) or consult the Suzuki parts diagrams linked above to confirm compatibility.

Q: How often should I perform this maintenance service?
A: This kit is designed for 100-hour maintenance intervals as recommended by Suzuki. Depending on your usage, this typically translates to annual service for recreational boaters or more frequently for commercial applications.

Q: What are signs that my water pump impeller needs replacement?
A: Common indicators include reduced water flow from the cooling outlet, engine overheating, weak stream from the telltale, or visible damage to the impeller blades. Never wait for complete failure—replace at recommended intervals.

Q: Can I reuse the old gaskets and seals if they look okay?
A: No, always replace gaskets, seals, and O-rings during maintenance even if they appear intact. Reusing old sealing components can lead to leaks, air intrusion, and potential engine damage.

Q: Do I need to replace all three anodes at once?
A: Yes, it's best practice to replace all anodes simultaneously to ensure uniform corrosion protection. Inspect your old anodes—if significantly corroded (more than 50% depleted), replacement is essential.

This paper is absolutely excellent for optimal print quality. I used it for ceramic mugs and it is easy to see why it costs more. The transfer quality is fantastic

This is the ONLY paper that works well with SP-1
Style: 100ct
This is the only paper that works well with the Brother SP-1 sublimation printer. The instructions on using the paper are a little weird, but as long as the cut corner remains in the lower right of the printer tray, you'll be okay. I can't say that there's a lot of consistency in printing with this paper. Sometimes photos I've printed for items look really great, other times the photos are quite muted. This is a CMYK printer, which means you won't see the vibrant colors you see on your computer monitor. Often a red-boost in saturation in PS will help with some of that problem. The other issue is there's no real color management profile defined if you're printing directly from Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Even if you use matching CMYK colors in your artwork, don't expect those colors to work in sublimation. For simple artwork, with few color gradations, this seems to work pretty well. So, if you have an SP-1, this is the only paper you should use.
