In Buddhist practice, singing bowls are used as a support for meditation and prayer. They are played either by striking with a soft mallet or by passing a wooden mallet around the rim of the bowl to produce an harmonic sound.
The manufacture of hammered singing bowls is a completely manual process. The bowl is carefully hammered until it is in the correct shape and has a pure tone.
