Aktuelle Reformbemühungen sind gekennzeichnet von dem Bestreben, die Tätigkeit der Nachrichtendienste auf der Grundlage verfassungsrechtlicher Maßstäbe enger einzuhegen. Das erste Lehrbuch zum Nachrichtendienstrecht gibt ausgehend von den historischen und verfassungsrechtlichen Grundlagen einen systematischen Überblick über die unübersichtliche und auf zahlreiche Gesetze verteilte Materie. Die 2. Auflage berücksichtigt alle Entscheidungen des Bundesverfassungsgerichts zum Sicherheitsrecht aus den Jahren 2022 und 2023 und auch bereits die beiden zum 1.1.2024 in Kraft getretenen umfangreichen Neuregelungen im BVerfSchG und BNDG. Darüber hinaus enthält die 2. Auflage ein weiteres neues Kapitel zum Thema "Personeller Geheimnisschutz und Eigensicherung".
