Karibu Innensauna Nanja in Systembauweise für 1-2 Personen

Diese System- bzw. Elementsauna verdankt ihren Namen den einzelnen vorgefertigten Wandelementen, die beim Aufbau einfach nur zusammengesteckt werden. Die Bauweise dieser Wandelemente wird Sandwich-Bauweise genannt, da die Elemente sich aus mehreren Schichten zusammensetzen.

Die Aussenwände der Sichtseiten setzen sich zusammen aus zwei 12,5 mm starken atmungsaktiven und feuchtigkeitsausgleichenden Spezial-Softline-Profilholzplatten und einer 42 mm dicken Dämmschicht aus Mineralwolle. Das Dach besteht aus einer 57 mm starken Spezialplatte und Mineralwolldämmung. Aufgrund einer Gesamtwandstärke von 68 mm sind Systemsaunen besonders gut isoliert und benötigen eine sehr geringe Aufheizzeit. Das macht sie besonders energieschonend.

Grundausstattung

  • Innenmasse: Die Innenmasse dieser Sauna mit B 136 x T 136 x H 192 cm erlauben es, dass 1-2 Personen gleichzeitig saunieren können.
  • Saunaliegen: Mit 2 Liegen wird das Erlebnis für jeden Saunagast besonders angenehm. In der Grundausstattung sind folgende Liegebänke enthalten: 1 Liege, ca. 52 cm breit, 1 Liege, ca. 27 cm breit, (massives Espenholz).
  • Eckeinstieg: Besonders gut eignet sie sich für kleine Räume. Sie nutzt jeden Quadratmeter sinnvoll und ist in nahezu jeden Raum integrierbar - äusserst kompakt und platzsparend.

Bei der Montage einer Sauna muss ein Mindestabstand von 10 cm zu Wänden und Decke unbedingt eingehalten werden, um gute Luftzirkulation zu gewährleisten. So kann feucht-warme Luft besser abziehen. In diesem Zusammenhang müssen die Mindestraumhöhe und -breite beachtet werden.

Türvariante

Diese hochwertige Graphit-Ganzglastür, mit einem Türrahmen aus Massivholz, besteht aus einem 8 mm starken Einscheibensicherheitsglas. Dieses ist speziell wärmebehandelt und unempfindlich gegenüber schwankenden Temperaturen. Das Einbaumass beträgt 78 x 187,1 cm und das Durchgangsmass 64 x 173 cm. Die Türbeschläge in Anthrazit sind frei justierbar und können mithilfe eines Exzenters exakt ausgerichtet werden. Der modern aussehende Türgriff besteht aussen aus Edelstahl und im Inneren aus Holz. Verriegeln lässt sich die Tür über einen bequemen Magnetverschluss.

Saunaofen

Das Herzstück einer Sauna ist ihr Ofen: Er haucht ihr Leben ein, bestimmt wie warm es wird und welche Art von Saunagang genossen werden kann. Dieser 3,6 kW (16 A) starke klassische Saunaofen erreicht eine Temperatur bis zu 80 °C, wird steckerfertig geliefert und ist besonders sparsam im Betrieb.

Wie pflege ich meine Saunakabine?

1. Benutze ein Handtuch

Wir empfehlen dir, während der Nutzung ein Handtuch auf die Sitzbank bzw. Relaxliege zu legen. Den Boden bedeckst du am Besten mit einer hitzebeständigen Kunststoffmatte oder einem abwischbaren Korkboden. Handtuch und Bodenmatte schützen das Holz vor abgesonderten Schweiss, über den sich mit Zeit Bakterien, Viren und Pilze ansammeln. Nach Abschluss der Behandlung entfernst du das Handtuch sofort aus der Kabine.

2. Lüfte unbedingt gut durch

Nach der Wellnessbehandlung lässt du die Tür der Infrarotsauna offen stehen, damit die Sauna gut durchlüftet wird. Befindet sich ein Fenster im Raum, solltest du dieses auch kurz öffnen, um Frischluft hineinzulassen.

3. Regelmässige Reinigung

Damit du langfristig Freude an deiner Sauna hast, ist diese in regelmässigen Abständen zu reinigen. Für die Sitzflächen benutzt du ein leicht feuchtes Tuch mit milder Seife. Danach noch mit ein wenig klarem Wasser nachwischen und trocken reiben. Den Fussboden kannst du bequem mit einem Staubsauger reinigen. Im Laufe der Zeit bilden sich Flecken am Holz. Diese entfernst du mit handelsüblichem Schleifpapier mit einer Körnung von 180 bis 200.

  •  Achtung: Setze keine aggressiven Reinigungsmittel für die Reinigung deiner Sauna ein. Scheuer- und Bleichmittel greifen das Holz an und machen es mit der Zeit unansehnlich. Verzichte auch auf scharfe, spitze oder scheuernde Reinigungsutensilien.

Worin besteht der Unterschied zwischen System- und Massivholzsaunen?

Der Unterschied der beiden Saunatypen besteht in der Bauweise. Eine Systemsauna ist aus mehreren funktionalen Schichten zusammengesetzt: Der Kern besteht aus Dämmwolle, die bei manchen Modellen (nicht bei Karibu-Saunen) auch noch mit einer Dampfsperre ummantelt ist. Die Innen- und Außenwände sind mit Profilhölzern verkleidet. Wandelemente und Rahmen werden montagefertig geliefert. Vorteile: Systemsaunen sind einfach auf-, ab- und wieder aufzubauen. Die Aufheizphase ist kürzer. Die Wartezeit ebenso.
Eine Massivholzsauna besteht aus Vollholz, ohne Isolierung oder Dampfsperre, und wird wie ein Blockbohlenhaus mit 40 bzw. 38 Millimeter starken Wandelementen oder Bohlen im Nut-und-Feder-System aufgebaut. Das verwendete nordische Fichtenholz ist bei einer Massivholzsauna zugleich Baustoff und Dämmstoff. Vorteile: Bessere natürliche Wärmespeicherkapazität, optimales Raumklima und die Feuchtigkeit und Hitze verteilen sich langsamer sowie gleichmäßiger, weil das Holz „atmen“ kann.

Wie gross sollte meine Sauna sein?

Abgesehen vom Platz, den du zu Hause zur Verfügung hast, sollte deine Sauna so gross sein, dass sich die grösste Person der Familie bequem auf einer Liege ausstrecken kann. Ideal wäre noch ein kleines Plus von ca. 10 Zentimetern.

Gibt es eine Faustregel zur Bemessung der nötigen Ofenleistung?

Die Ofenleistung orientiert sich an der Grösse der Sauna. Hier ein Rechenbeispiel für eine Sauna, die zwei Meter breit, drei Meter lang und zwei Meter hoch ist:

2 m x 3 m x 2 m = 12 m³

12 m³ : 1,5 = 8 kW.

Der Kubikmeter-Wert der Sauna muss durch 1,5 dividiert werden. So erhältst du den Richtwert für die geforderte Kilowatt-Angabe deines Ofens. Bedenke, dass sich eine Systemsauna aufgrund der Isolierung schneller aufheizt als eine Sauna aus Massivholz. Bei detaillierteren Fragestellungen kannst du dich daher gerne an unseren Kundenservice wenden.

Was unterscheidet Elektro- und Bio-Kombi-Saunaöfen sowie holzbefeuerte Öfen?

Der Elektro-Saunaofen besitzt Heizstäbe in seinem Inneren, die elektrisch erhitzt werden. Die Saunasteine, die um die Heizstäbe herum geschichtet sind, speichern die Wärme und geben sie in die Kabine ab. Eine Steuerung regelt die Temperatur. Ist die gewünschte Temperatur erreicht, schaltet sich der Ofen automatisch ab. Sobald die Temperatur sinkt, springt der Ofen wieder an. Der Elektro-Saunaofen ist nur für finnischen Saunabetrieb (80–110 °C, trocken) geeignet.

Der Bio-Kombi-Saunaofen wird ebenfalls elektrisch betrieben. Er besitzt jedoch noch eine Verdampferwanne, mit der man neben dem heissen und trockenen finnischen Bad auch heisse, feuchte Dampfbäder mit ätherischen Ölen zwischen 60 und 80 °C geniessen kann. Über die Steuerung kannst du die gewünschte Temperatur sowie die Verdampfeinheit einstellen bzw. zuschalten. Dampfbäder gelten als vergleichsweise kreislaufschonend und sind auch für Kinder geeignet.

Der traditionelle, holzbefeuerte Saunaofen besitzt ein grösseres Volumen als die beiden anderen Ofenarten und ist aus Edelstahl gefertigt. Um ihn betreiben zu können, benötigst du einen Kaminanschluss und die offizielle Genehmigung vom Bezirksschornsteinfeger. Daher ist dieser Saunaofen für die Wohnung eher ungeeignet, für eine Aussensauna ist er jedoch mit seinem schönen Flammenspiel und dem Knistern des Holzes eine urige und gemütliche Alternative.

Welchen Elektroanschluss benötigt mein Wunschofen?

Je nach Kilowattzahl (kW) des Ofens ist ein 230-Volt- (normale Steckdose) oder ein 400-Volt-Anschluss (Dreiphasenwechselstrom, höhere Spannung) erforderlich. Auch Elektroöfen in der Küche werden mit Dreiphasenwechselstrom – auch Starkstrom genannt – betrieben.

Ganz wichtig: Ein Elektroanschluss darf nur von einem Elektrofachmann vorgenommen werden! Nicht nur aus Sicherheitsgründen – legst du den Anschluss selbst, erlischt automatisch die Garantie. Über welche Gesamtleistung (kW) der gewünschte Ofen verfügt und welchen Stromanschluss er benötigt, kannst du der technischen Datentabelle auf der Artikeldetailseite entnehmen.

In unserem Shop findest du u. a. auch Plug-&-Play-Öfen (bis 3,6 kW), die mit normalem Steckdosenbetrieb laufen. Die Leistung dieser Geräte ist zwar nicht ganz so hoch, dafür sind sie sparsamer und ideal für kleinere Kabinen geeignet.

Benötige ich ein Ofenschutzgitter?

Das Ofengitter ist stets im Lieferumfang enthalten. Es schützt Dich vor direktem Hautkontakt mit dem heissen Ofen. Darüber hinaus hilft es, das Holz der Bänke und Wände zu schützen. Bei Öfen mit einer Leistung von 4,5 bis 9 kW muss der Mindestabstand wenigstens 4 cm betragen.

Welches Holz wird für Saunen und Infrarotkabinen verwendet?

Am häufigsten wird Nordische Fichte verwendet, da dieses Holz eine hohe Festigkeit und Elastizität besitzt. Auch enthalten Nordische Fichten weniger Harz als ihre heimischen Verwandten. Im Innenbereich wird für Liegen auch häufig Espenholz verwendet.

Saunaanleitung für Beginner!

Der Sauna Zyklus und seine 3 Phasen

Im Gegensatz zu einer Infrarotkabine sind die Abläufe in einer Sauna um einiges komplexer. Hier findest du alles Wichtige, um deine Wellnessbehandlung optimal vorzubereiten und durchzuführen. Der Saunagang gliedert sich in 3 Phasen, die aufeinander aufbauen und sich ergänzen. Die Phase der Erwärmung, die Phase der Abkühlung und die Ruhephase. Lässt man einen Schritt aus oder mutet sich zu viel zu, ist der Erholungseffekt nichtig und man riskiert Kreislaufprobleme. Für das Aufheizen der Kabine solltest du 1-3 Stunden einplanen.

1. Die Aufwärmphase

Zu Beginn solltest du dich einmal kurz warm abduschen, um die Haut von Schweiss und Schmutz zu befreien und den Körper auf die Saunatemperaturen vorzubereiten. In die Sauna gehst du unbekleidet, mit einem Handtuch und sitzt oder legst dich je nach Belieben auf die unterschiedlich hohen Sitzbänke. Je weiter oben du dich befindest, desto höher sind die Temperaturen.

Nach wenigen Minuten beginnt für die meisten Liebhaber der Höhepunkt in der Sauna: Der Aufguss! Hier wird mit einer Kelle öfters eine grössere Menge Wasser auf die Steine gegossen, was die Luftfeuchtigkeit und die gefühlte Temperatur drastisch erhöht. Sehr oft ist im Wasser noch ein Saunaduft wie Eukalyptus oder Fichte beigesetzt. Nach ungefähr 10 - 15 Minuten solltest du die Sauna verlassen.

2. Die Abkühlphase

Nach der Wärme kommt das Abkühlen - ein wichtiger Schritt, um den Körper wieder auf normale Temperatur herunterzukühlen. Um deinen Körper und dein Herzkreislaufsystem nicht zu überlasten, empfehlen wir zuerst einen kleinen Spaziergang an der frischen Luft. Danach kannst du dich mit lauwarmen bis kalten Wasser abduschen.

3. Die Ruhephase

Ist dein Körper abgekühlt, brauchst du erstmal Ruhe und Erholung. Nehme dazu ein gutes Buch und entspanne auf einer Liege für 20 - 30 Minuten. Denke auch daran, dass du ausreichend Wasser zu dir nimmst. Denn dein Körper hat sehr viel ausgeschwitzt. Sobald du wieder fit und startklar bist, beginnt der nächste Saunagang.

Saunagang Ablauf - die einzelnen Schritte, wie ein Saunagang ablaufen sollte

Mit den folgenden 11 Schritten kann deinem Saunabesuch nichts mehr im Wege stehen.

  1. Entkleide dich zunächst und suche ggf. noch das WC auf.
  2. Reinige dich gründlich mit Wasser, damit Schweiss, Parfüm, Deo, etc. entfernt werden.
  3. Trockne dich ab und nehme dein Saunahandtuch.
  4. Betrete die Sauna für ca. 10 bis 15 Minuten.
  5. Lege dich hin und entspanne im Sitzen oder Liegen.
  6. Bevor du die Sauna verlässt, setze dich für ein paar Minuten wieder aufrecht hin, um deinen Körper daran zu gewöhnen.
  7. Kühle dich zunächst draussen ab - ein kleiner Spaziergang ist für das Herzkreislaufsystem besser als sofort in ein kaltes Becken zu springen.
  8. Jetzt kannst du dich kalt abduschen, in ein kaltes Becken springen oder mit einem Schlauch langsam beginnen, dich von den Füssen nach oben zum Herz abzukühlen.
  9. Nehme dir ausreichend Zeit, um dich zu erholen. 30 Minuten Ruhephase zwischen jedem Saunagang. Vergesse nicht, zu trinken.
  10. Wiederhole die Punkte 1-9 ca. 2-3 mal.
  11. Nachdem du ein Saunabad beendet hast, trinke ausreichend und nehme eine leichte Mahlzeit in Form von Salat oder frischem Obst zu dir.

This review is based on two months of daily use. I purchased a Kindle without really knowing much about them. I have always been against electronic books because I have always enjoyed the feeling of pages in between my fingers. However, circumstances have made me change my beliefs, mostly not having a nightstand with a light, and books can be bulky for a bike traveler like myself. So let me just begin with a couple of negatives. A couple of my favorite features about actual books is able to leaf back through pages and re-read portions that I misremembered, or that I really enjoyed. Reading on a Kindle makes that difficult because "leafing through" could take forever, especially if you don't recall the area in which the passage occurs. I'm also a big highlighter and margin note-taker in books so I can analyze. Although you can highlight with Kindles, for me, it's just not the same. Finally, Kindle's touch screen can be hit or miss - sometimes I will want to go forward, but the page might be back. Load times for the main screen, or cycling through, can be obnoxious. And just looking through Amazon's library to find a book? Forget about it! A lot of the novels on their suggested books, or top sellers, are "adult" novels, or easy reads. It's very difficult to find a book when you just want to discover a new author or title. Now for the benefits - my favorite feature is integrating Good Reads. It tracks my reading, the books I've read, and the books I want to read. Not only that, but it will give me suggestions based on the books I have saved or I have read. That takes care of the Amazon library problem. The backlight and the battery life are phenomenal! I can go a week without charging my Kindle, and I read it for about 90 minutes a day. It might be attributed to my backlight always being fairly low. I don't really see a reason to raise it above a third of the meter. Finally, the Kindle is small enough to fit in the back pocket of jeans. It's lightweight and waterproof. Basically, it's built for travel. As someone who walks and bikes everywhere, it makes reading on a go so much easier than carrying around a bulky or heavy book. I am grateful for this purchase. Even though it isn't an actual book, I look forward to reading on my Kindle, and if I fall in love with a new book I'm reading on my Kindle, I know that it will be worth the $15 to buy the physical copy and collect dust on my bookshelf!

Updated Review on Oct 6, 2019: After nearly a year of using it, I noticed that the issues I mentioned in the original review were largely negligible while reading. The pinhole near the corner was never bothersome because I'd have to remember to look very closely to see it. The battery can last for a long time during hibernation, even for many many weeks if not used. I also hardly remember to notice the uneven screen color temperature. The only thing that's still a bit inconvenient is the glare. When near a window I'd have to adjust my reading angle to avoid the glare. It's something hard to overcome with a digital device and it's not a big compromise for light-weight and convenience. Therefore please take my original review below with a grain of salt, I was nitpicking on a device that I had a lot of expectations for. I also decided to change the 3 stars to 4 stars. Original review on Nov 12, 2018 (with updates on Jan 26, 2019): I have owned a Kindle Paperwhite since 2014. I really liked that old one and gifted it away a while ago. Perhaps I have had too much expectation for this new 2018 version (waited for many months for the release), I felt quite disappointed with a few of its issues. First I must be clear that I am a fan of e-books, and I think Kindle Paperwhite has always been a nice device, light, easy to use, easier on the eyes than an LCD screen, easy to look up words, etc. I also used a Kindle Oasis for a couple of days, I don't feel comfortable with the hard slick aluminum back, and its front lights are located on the sides, so the slight uneven light can be observed from left to right; while for Paperwhite with bottom lights, the unevenness is from top to bottom, meaning within each text line, the light is usually even, therefore less distracting to reading. Here comes the new 2018 Paperwhite: I like the screen is flat with the bezels now. However, both the first device I received and the subsequent replacement have a bright pinhole dot under the screen (see photos). It's like a piece of tiny defect or dust above the e-ink text and located in the light distribution layer (my guess). When the front light is adjusted to a high level, the dot becomes quite bright and distracting. I was surprised the second device had the same issue (just my luck or something else is going on here?), but because it's near the corner, I decided to live with it. This pinhole bright spot issue apparently can be found on the previous generations as well based on many reviews, I am just astonished Amazon hasn't fixed it. Also, I don't know what happened with the charging cable, it took me a lot of effort to plug it into the device, and pull it out, it's like as if the connectors are not made well. (Update Jan 26, 2019: the difficulty of plugging in the cable only occurred during the first couple of uses, it became normal and smooth later.) Also, the screen feels easier to smudge than my old Paperwhite. The texts appear slightly blurrier where there are fingerprints. Another issue is that the screen has a ton of reflection from bright windows or light sources (please see my photo, taken under an east-facing window in the afternoon). I don’t remember if it has always been like this or it’s because of the new screen update. Even with the window blinds shut, I had to tilt Kindle to certain angles to avoid the glare, albeit softer than on an LCD screen, still quite distracting. Under the same lighting, a real paperback has no reflection glare issues. Furthermore, when front light is on and when external ambient light is somewhat dim, my replacement Kindle Paperwhite appears a bit yellower near the bottom, especially on the left side, it’s distracting but hopefully, I’ll get used to it. It’s like real paper books getting old and parts of pages turning yellow—I try to convince myself. (Update Jan 26, 2019: other reviewers have mentioned issues with poor battery life. My experience is similar that if I don't use it for a few hours, even with WiFi turned on, the device will enter something like a hibernation mode, which requires a bit more time to wake up, but it allows the battery to last for many weeks if left on the shelf. If I read about 1-2 hours a day with wifi on, the battery drains very quickly, and will hardly last beyond a week. However, If you keep airplane mode on during reading, it will significantly conserve battery, the only inconvenience is that if you don't know a word and the dictionary also doesn't have it, which is quite likely the case, Wikipedia won't be able to show up without WiFi.) Perhaps I’m just asking too much for a digital device. Overall, it’s still a great device to read books, and Amazon still provided a fast replacement when I asked. However, with these experiences, I can no longer swear to e-readers. I don’t write reviews often, but I feel strongly about this product and sincerely hope it will help fellow costumers and help Amazon improve their devices.

Don't be drama, this is a great kindle.

My wife attempted to buy the previous generation Kindle, because of some of the negative reviews about this kindle. Thankfully Target didn't have the previous gen so she got me this one instead. I love it, it is light, has a super fast page turn, it's nice knowing that a little splash of coffee won't kill it and it has made me a fan of kindle reading all over again. The backlight is perfect, and turning it all the way down is perfect for reading in the day/sun. I am back to my minimalist ways after getting tired of books piling up around the house. Here are a couple of the negative comments that people have been leaving. 1. "the glare, oh the glare, how can it say anti-glare and then I go out in the sun and I have to squint!" First of all, that's just drama. Try wearing sunglasses next time you are outside or sit in the shade. I am pretty sure, the last I checked, even paper books can be hard to see without them. First day I had it, sat by the pool all day and read. Not once did I notice a glare. 2. "the slick glass layout of the design makes it prone to chipping, my toddler knocked it off the couch and it chipped the screen a little bit." hmmm, I have toddlers. You leaving your device in their reach is not the kindle's fault. They are known to destroy everything in their path, and no fortress is strong enough to withstand their furry. This is definitely a "you" problem. 3. Here are some highlights of other comments. “It’s infuriating that Amazon went to market with this machine. Do not upgrade from prior Paperwhites.” Amazon producing a new kindle is infuriating? Forget everything I know about human rights issues. Sound the alarm bells. “To unlock the device, it goes through a long “waking up” period where the backlight is turned up full blast for some reason. It then reverts to your normal backlight setting after unlocking. I blind myself every night reading in bed.” Please just go to a doctor, any doctor. They should be able to help you with these feelings. “Bottom line: this is not a finished product, and they shoved it out the door because they wanted to have it out for Christmas.” Hey you are the one who wanted it for Christmas, so there is that part of it as well. “Without Wi-Fi, you can't use it.” Yeah that’s been true for a decade now. But since it’s waterproof, you can use it as a coaster. I am being sarcastic because people are drama about the funniest things. It’s a great kindle. Buy one, and remember you do need Wifi lol.

I love my kindle paperwhite so far, I've had it a week now and love the portability of it! It is so lightweight and I really have been able to read it anywhere. I love that I got 15% off AND a $20 ebook credit, that made getting it for myself for my 40th birthday an even better deal! I was stoked! I had a kindle shortly after they first came out and wasn't really sold on the e-reader vs an actual book experience. I loved the concept of it, just not the actual product at the time, BUT as I've gotten older and more used to reading on a screen (I use my kindle app on my phone quite a bit) I really craved something that doesn't have all the extra distractions of emails, text messages etc. popping up while I'm reading, plus I'm on my phone way too much already anyway, AND I loved the idea that I could take it in the bathtub with me (I will not do that with my phone). So when this deal popped up and it was close to my birthday I got so excited to treat myself that I originally ordered it without adding the code for the deal itself....whoops! But I contacted customer service and they assured me I could cancel and reorder it without issue so I did. Now, I'm not sure if I messed something up here but my order took forever to process after this and after multiple chats with customer service was told my bank was authorizing then deauthorizing it but after this particular chat session it finally switched to shipped and showed it would arrive on August 31st (10 days after my birthday when I had ordered it 5 days before my birthday). To be fair when I ordered it I was given a window of Aug 18-Sept 1st (on prime delivery mind you) and because I work for a shipping company I figured that much like we have to deal with an influx of more orders than usual due to covid that this was an over cautious estimation but as it turns out, it was not. Now, when I contacted my bank they also assured me that they do not authorize and deauthorize charges like that and it had to be on the other end so with that knowledge it does upset me that I am paying for a 2 day shipping service (that I do not use all that much to even justify the cost I'm paying) that I now have to wait 2-3 weeks for, so that's really the only complaint I have at this time, the product itself I am in love with. I was surprised by the size of it, I am terrible at interpreting dimensions by measurements and sometimes even the comparison pictures don't quite sink in so when I opened the box and saw how slim the box it actually comes it was I was shocked and then when I opened that and saw that the kindle itself was about half the size of that I felt kind of disappointed at first until I realized how perfect the size really is, I can hold it comfortably in one hand and it's lighter than most books, not to mention I don't have to hold the pages open as well so those are all pluses for me, (even though I absolutely adore books and own tons of them also and never want to get rid of them either) I love that I can get a brand new book delivered instantly to my device without having to go anywhere, BUT books I love the tactile feeling of plus anytime illustrations or pictures are included they are much better in the book, especially since this is only black and white though this isn't a deal breaker as most pictures in the books I read aren't usually so integral to the story that I need to see them in color, though if I was reading the kids picture books I got way back when my son was small I'd want the color for that. I am also new to Audible and see I can hook my device to a bluetooth device to listen to but have not tried that yet to let you know (I usually do this on my phone) whether I like it on this device or not but if I do eventually try it I will update the review.

Received this for Christmas and it is awesome! Disclaimer: this is my first e-reader so I have nothing to compare it to. I am also a very new user and still haven't made it through the user guide... which is like 1000 pages and is very helpful but slightly intimidating! Battery life is great and lasts for weeks. I like the 'paper-like' option with no back-light for daytime reading. Easy on eyes and reads like a book. Honestly, I'm surprised at how 'book-like' the Kindle actually reads (also thanks to the leather-like amazon cover I received as well. I know that sounds like a bad advertisement but it's not. Another item I wouldn't have purchased for myself but so glad I got for the protection and feel). Only concern is that if you accidentally take brightness all the way to 0, you won't be able to see anything in the dark and it may be hard to find the 'increase brightness' symbol. The Kindle looks to be OFF in this mode if you are in the dark. NOT a complaint because I love it during the daytime, just a caution to anyone out there that may be reading while trying not to bother kids or spouses. Low-light is really good (better than my cell phone) but stop at 1 unless you have light. Only issue I've had is that the Touch screen can be finicky if your hands are super dry. Noticed this after working outside in cold. Seems like touchscreen doesn't recognize finger if hands are too cold/dry. Lick your finger, put on lotion, or don't abuse your hands and I think you'll be fine. Cant speak to it yet but I recently downloaded the ESV Bible translation (for FREE) and I'm looking forward to being able to bookmark, highlight, and make notes wherever and however I want without limitations of margins and poor hand writing. This makes it worth the cost to me for this feature alone and all the books are a bonus! Dont quite understand it yet but you seem to get 2 free books every so often but you have to choose from a list of 6 or so books. I think they might be new releases on the Kindle format maybe? Overall extremely satisfied with the Kindle so far. It's very intuitive and you really don't need to even read the guide unless you want to learn more about some of the lesser used or less obvious features. Definitely beats reading on iPad or phone by a long shot. The battery life and ease on the eyes make it worth the investment (although I must admit I was VERY hesitant to get one and would have waited for next years' Cyber-Monday sale if Santa hadn't hooked me up). Best gift and so glad I have one now. No longer have to leave lamp on to read and you can't beat the portability. At 4.75" x 6.5" in the case it's pretty much a large cell phone. On that note, also love being able to read without interruptions from text, emails, calls, etc. Hope this was somewhat helpful. Good luck and happy reading! -Will
