Sweet Iron rostet, wenn es mit (Luft-)Feuchtigkeit in Berührung kommt. Der Oberflächenrost schmeckt süß und regt auf natürliche Weise die Speichelproduktion an. Dies führt dazu, dass das Pferd mehr speichelt, was wiederum die Akzeptanz des Gebisses fördert.
