Eines der kleinsten Anwesen von Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari, di Montalcino La Fuga, liegt knapp über 4000 Fuß Höhe auf reichen Sedimentböden. Der Berg Amiata steht hoch im Südosten der Toskana und schützt die Weinberge der Region mit einer Südwestlage zum Tyrrhenischen Meer, die von sanften Hügeln geschützt wird. Was viele Sangiovese grosso nennen, wird in der Gemeinde Montalcino Brunello genannt und gilt als den Sangiovese-Trauben anderer Regionen überlegen. Handverlesen und auf Schalen in Edelstahltanks vergoren, reift der Wein dann vier Jahre lang in großen slowenischen Eichenfässern, mit weiteren 12 Monaten Reifung in der Flasche. Die Brunello-Trauben von La Fuga sind keine Ausnahme, denn der Brunello ist ein eleganter und doch kraftvoller Wein. Im Bouquet zeigen sich schokoladenüberzogene Himbeeren, geräuchertes Holz, Lakritze und eine rustikale Erdigkeit. Am Gaumen zeigt der Wein eine schöne Struktur mit weichen Tanninen und spritziger Säure. Reife rote Früchte, Waldboden, Tabak und ein Hauch von gepfefferter Vanille weichen einem langen, zähen Abgang. Dieser Wein ist jung genießbar und wird auch noch nach Jahren seine Genießer begeistern. Passt gut zu Geflügel, reifem Käse und rotem Fleisch.

Its great to be able to go back and read Stokely Carmichael today in his own words. This book provides an excellent overview of what black power means and how the concept originated. Although the book seems a bit dated today, many of the ideas presented are still entirely relevant. Ive only given the book four stars due to its age. Many of the statistics presented are dated, and undoubtedly there are other texts available today that present these ideas in a much better/newer way. But if you are interested in Stokely Carmichael and what he stood for, this is the book to read.
