Côte Rôtie Côteaux de Tupin 2018 — Maison Stephans reinsortiger Serine-Wein, ein Côte-Rôtie aus der alten, lokalen Syrah-Selektion. Tupin-Semons liegt am südlichen Ende der Côte-Rôtie-Appellation, und die Côteaux de Tupin sind Steillagen mit Granitverwitterungsböden. Hier wächst Syrah in ihrer ursprünglichsten Form.

100 % Serine, 14,5 % Alkohol, Jahrgang 2018. Serine unterscheidet sich von moderner Syrah durch kleinere Beeren, dickere Schalen und intensivere Aromen — und durch eine Wildheit, die an die Ursprünge der Rebsorte erinnert. Nach acht Jahren zeigt der Wein seine erste Trinkreife.

Tiefes, fast schwarzes Rubinrot. In der Nase schwarze Oliven, Rauch, dunkle Früchte, Speck, Veilchen und ein mineralischer Unterton. Am Gaumen kraftvoll und dicht, mit festen Tanninen und einer tragenden Säure. Der 2018er hat Wärme und Konzentration, aber die Serine hält den Wein lebendig. Langes, rauchiges Finish. Zu Wild, geschmortem Rindfleisch oder einem kräftigen Käse.
