Die Piccadilly Tischleuchte wurde 1982 von dem britischen Designer Gerard Taylor für Memphis entworfen. Ihr einzigartiges Design integriert das Leuchtmittel direkt in die Formgebung, was sie zu einem außergewöhnlichen Kunstwerk macht. Der Name der Leuchte ist von dem berühmten Piccadilly Circus in London inspiriert.

Memphis, die 1981 von Ettore Sottsass gegründete Designgruppe, setzte mit ihren Entwürfen ein kreatives Statement gegen das Hightech-Design der 1970er Jahre. Die Gruppe kombinierte geometrische Formen wie Kugeln, Kegel und Würfel mit kräftigen Farben und innovativen Materialien wie Kunststofflaminaten.
