Paul Müller-Zürich (19. 06. 1898 - 21. 07. 1993) wurde in Zürich geboren. Er studierte am Konservatorium Zürich bei Philipp Jarnach und Volkmar Andreae sowie später in Paris. 1927 wurde er Lehrer am Konservatorium Zürich. Als Lehrer, Dirigent, Komponist und Organisator war er eine der bedeutendsten Persönlichkeiten im Schweizer Musikleben des 20. Jahrhunderts. 1953 erhielt Müller den Musikpreis der Stadt Zürich, 1958 den Kompositionspreis des schweizerischen Tonkünstlervereins, dessen Präsident er 1960 wurde. Müllers Oeuvre umschliesst nahezu alle Gattungen; heute sind seine Orgelwerke besonders bekannt. Paul Müller-Zürich starb in Luzern (Quelle: sme-musinfo)
