Feuer, Erde Luft und Wasser - wie stellt man die vier Elemente mit Holzbausteinen dar? Grimm's hat sich abstrakte, aber dennoch klar erkennbare Formen ausgedacht, die auf einzigartige Art und Weise kombiniert werden können. Das Feuer besteht aus Flammenelementen in lodernden Orange-und Rottönen. Das Wasser windet sich in hohen Wellen in Blautönen, die Erde wird symbolisiert durch höhlenartig anmutende, eckige Bausteine und die Luft wird vom Grimm's Klassiker, dem Regenbogen, repräsentiert.

Man kann den Holzkasten nutzen, um darin die einzelnen Teile ineinander zu stecken und somit das Puzzle zu lösen. Besonders gut geeignet sind die Elemente auch, um damit die phantasievolle Welt von Grimm's auszuweiten und neue Spielmöglichkeiten und -Situationen zu schaffen. Jedes Kind kennt das Märchen von Rumpelstilzchen, der kleinen Meerjungfrau oder Schneewittchen. Also schwupps das Feen- oder Zauberergewand überwerfen und die Märchenwelt kreieren mit Rumpelstilzchens Feuer, dem Meer für die kleine Nixe und dem Bergstollen der Sieben Zwerge.

Grimm's orientiert sich mit seinem Holzspielzeug an den Ansätzen der Waldorf- und Montessori -Pädagogik. Rudolf Steiner gründete die erste Waldorf-Schule und brachte in diese die Ansätze Entwickelns und Lernes durch Ausprobierens, Anfassens und Fühlens ein. Grimms Elemente Baukausten folgt den Ansätzen beider Methotiken, gerade bei dem wichtigen Thema der vier Elemente. Demnach wird Kindern besonders viel Freiraum für Kreativität geschenkt durch Spielzeug, was nicht bis ins Detail designt wurde. Deswegen kann man aus den Wellen eine schiefe Brücke bauen, das Feuer wird zum Zwergenhaus und der Regenbogen zur farbenfrohen Mauer. Natürlich kann man alle Elemente auch einfach zu einem großen Turm aufstapeln!
